Are you trying to say I shouldn’t mix the cocoa with soil just choose one of them I’m a little confused. I need all the help I can get a beginner.

You should not mix the coco with the potting soil. You can have excellent results running coco. You can have excellent results running soil. You run into problems when you mix soil with coco at home. The mixes are not compatible with each other but each one will work fine all by itself.

Coco is inert. It has zero nutrition so you'll be feeding your plants regularly and early on. Coco typically gets watered daily. It's considered a hydroponic medium. Most commercial grows use coco.

Soil comes with at least some nutrients in it. If you're interested in purchasing a good commercially made soil mix, look at Fox Farm's Ocean Forest. Add about 20% perlite so it drains well. It's a rich organic mix but it will eventually require feeding. To activate the buffering, premoisten the soil a couple of weeks prior to you using it. This helps gets the microbes and buffering started.
