Hi, first time grower. I just noticed this spot on one of my two plants and I am very concerned that it might be some form of bud rot or mold. It was quite rainy and started to get cold for the last weeks, even though the plant is under a roof. Do I need to be concerned? If yes, what can I do? Can I still harvest the parts that look fine? I have another plant next to it, which does not show signs. Should I harvest the other plant as soon as possible and start drying? Thank you.

Hello Steve and welcome to the Farm!
Sadly got to say that indeed it looks like bud rot which should be cut of and thrown away.
You can save the rest if it's not already rotten inside, maybe pick one or two big buds from others stems and check how they look inside, if all are green your good if not, cut out all spots generously.
When your plants stay outside y always have to worry about bud rot when the buds getting dense and heavy, even if they don't receive rain. High humidity is the problem, colder days and nights mean also higher humidity.
I would check trichomes on the other one and probably give it a cut soon as well.

Thank you. I wanted to wait another week until I harvest (mainly because space for drying is a bit of an issue I wanted to build a ventilated box first to minimise odor, and a few more trichomes could get a bit brown). But I guess it's better to do harvest now then.

Be careful to not bring infected buds around others in the dry room. I'd dry those alone ✌️

Doing my best. Unfortunately, space is limited. I had to throw away the whole top part, because the mold seemed to spread quite a bit inside, where it was easily recognizable as mold and I didn't want to risk infecting any other part. I had three buds from the part below, which had small parts where I wasn't sure if that's mold. I generously cut those pieces out and I'll dry them separately. Managed to cut down about 60% before it got too dark, but those parts all looked fine - no brown spots or other signs of mold. I removed most of the leaves already because I also was having issues with spider mites. I couldn't spot any signs of mold with my other plant, but I'll probably cut it down the next days, just to be safe. The plan currently is to dry the other plant in the box that I am going to build, and I'll hang the one that had the mold. Hopefully that will work out.

I prefer to use the term "necrotic" for bud sites that get like that, because calling it "rot" makes assumptions about the cause. A bud has gone necrotic and now you have to figure out why. It could be mildew, or it could be mites. Or, from the example image you posted where a single bud site went necrotic and the rest of the plant looks good, I bet if you dig around that dead bud you will probably find some caterpillar poop from a bud worm. If there is one, there are more, and you just aren't seeing the damage yet.

I think that's a solid plan, just use it as a learning experience. Segregating the mold is smart. Don't wanna risk it all over a little ✌️

The whole thing worked wonderfully. Had them hanging inside for a few days, but the odor was much better after I had put them in the box. Fan was running most of the day, turned it off at night because it was a bit loud. Had been using some cheap charcoal filter before the fan. All 3 racks were full, but I had already started to put them into a glass when I took the picture.
I harvested one bud a bit early, so it already had a two or three weeks in a glass. I think I haven't had such nice stuff in the last years. 🤩

Hey good for you. Time to start another........do it!!
But wait.. Just looked your pics. Are you growing little plants in small pots indoors? I was about to try that using some old seeds I had collected, but haven't had any luck getting them to sprout. I think biggest issue will be light though. Days are getting short - not sure if that's going to work without artificial light, but worth a try if I can get one to sprout.
