need help on odor control

I have a carbon filter and a 4L ona gel witch worked fine until i put more plants in flower is there some thing out that i can get or do i have to get more ona gel for the room?

Hey bro, I have read of a ghtto tech way to control odors..I heard that you can get one of these foun tains for your homes, they are pretty small for like 25-30.. The guy said if you fill it up with pine-sol it will control odors INSIDE the house.. If your smell problem is outside I suggest getting a carbon air filter

I have hundreds of plants - over half of them in full flower. Carbon filters are the only solution I've found that works. Best of luck..........

you can put a secondary scrubber filter/fan combo in the room - its possible your current fan/carbon filter combo are underrated for your room - to be effective it needs to replace the volume of air 3 times in ten minutes. It is also important that your filter's cfm range matches your fan.

the room its in now is 3x18x9 I'm going to move every thing in a 16x16x9, what would be a good size fan and carbon filter?

your gonna need a big dog - at least an 800 cfm fan with a filter rated for it...

if your gonna be doing a lot of flowering in that room you can get one of those sock filters/fan scrubber combos to help keep the smell down as well.

Hey lollypopman,Im also from Tennessee ,my daughter yanked my location.I thought me and Rocky Top were the only ones on here from Tennessee.Ive got to have a good carbon filter or Id go to prison ,its pretty crowded around here.Check out Mountain Air carbon fiters ,they are the one of the best in the business and have a 3 year warranty....Peace

RJ has it going on w sizing. It'll put you into an 8"HO or even a 10". The filter should be a Can 100 or equivalent. Might want to get a speed control to dial in your air flow.

Just a variation, but if are really concerned w odor control, look to using your fan set-up as a "push" system... you have your fan hooked up directly to the scrubber which sucks all the air in. This then pushes the clean air through all of your ducting/cooling hoods & evacuated to your vents. The idea is that all the air going through your ducting is trying to push out of the leak/holes/connections. If you run the fan at the end of the line (pulling the air), air tries to get into your ventilation through those leaks... which is unscrubbed air.

BTW, shit you not, can't find any evidence that supports Ona's claim of molecularly neutralizing odor particles. IF it really did do that, why concentrate it with a masking agent (the fresh linen crap)? All you can smell after putting your nose to it is Ona, granted no weed, but that is through masking. That pine suggestion is the same thing. Don't trust masking agents. Peace.

what i have now is a carbon filter to a vortex 6" fan then the air pushes trough the lights then out, but my filter is about 1/4 the size i need.. i will probably get this filter
and a 12" fan what yall think

Never used the GH filters as somewhat new anyway. I just go w what I absolutely know to work, though GH has a good name in my book. The two I know are Can's & Mountain Air... they work for sure.

The 12 is the bomb... big fukr. Lots of noise & air movement. Probably too much. However, you always have room to upgrade & can dial it down. Would recommend a Dial-A-Temp for this big as it is UL listed. Peace. (it's a big fukr) ;-)

:passingjoint::passingjoint:Dude I have been in your situation for about three years and I live in a dry area. thats a huge factor when talking about odor control. I put a carbon filter with a six inch vortex fan in my garden exiting out the attic. then I put another eight teen inch carbon filter with the same kind of fan running free (standing up right) in the room. My closet is in use. that's how I control my problem:passingjoint:

Agreed carbon filters are the only things that have ever worked for me!

ok since this thread is already ill just ask here...

Im helping my buddy set up his room and he only has one fan for both his scrubber and light. My question is, will it work if I just hook the filter up on the intake side of the light and route the exhaust out of the room? Or do I need to get another fan to run the scrubber and just circulate the air in the room? Anyone ever run into this before?

I use the same fan to do everything, just get a cheap oscillating fan to move stale air around the room. I would make the scrubber last on the chain close to the fan so if there is any leaks in the system your not pulling unfiltered air out of the room. The performance difference blow vs suck wont matter if you got unfiltered air leaving the system. Try to keep as much of the ducting under a vacuum.

I think most filters are designed to be "sucked" rather than "blown". They usually have a pre-filter wrapped around the outside which keeps big pieces of nastiness from getting to the carbon and clogging it up, so I'd think the carbon would last longer if the air is pulled over the mechanical pre-filter first. If you "blow" into the filter, I don't know if the same protection exists on the inside. If it doesn't (it might on some; I don't know...), then you're probably going to clog your activated carbon with dust and kill the filter before it's really dead...

I think what you're describing (suck air through the filter on the hood intake, then over the light, then out of the room) will work fine, as long as your hood is sealed well and still cools adequately. Definitely check the cooling on the lamp - the carbon filters will decrease your CFM over the bulb substantially.

cool thanks for the answers guys I feel better about this now. The cfm should be fine since its about 450 cfm venting a 1 600w hps in a cool tube, and a can 50 filter in a room that is 4x6x6 so it should deffinitly be an over kill :mooning hahahah that icon is great
