i just recently bought a stealth r/o 100. What i was thinking of doing is trying to run the ro system with out a city water connection to do this i woulf dump my water into a rubbermaid trash can and have a pump controled by a float switch running the ro system. My question is can i use a booster pump as my primary pump? or does there have to be some form of psi leading to the booster pump?

I wondered the same thing... But since my pressure rose to about 42 pounds, I decided I would be fine without a booster pump.
Pretty sure ( not absolutely sure), a booster pump would be fine as a stand alone delivery system... as long as it puts out least 40 pounds of pressure.

40 psi is about the minimum to push the Stealth 100.

Peace

Yes. .. and at those low pressures, I wouldn't expect a one to one ratio.

I sold water purification devices for a living years ago. minimum 40 pounds pressure will not provide as good a rejection rate as 60-80 psi, and it will take considerably longer to make one gallon

My method is hydro, and I go through a fair amount of water per week once plants are in flower mode.

A typical RO system nets ~ 5 gallons per waking hours/day, so I need to pre-plan to make sure I have water ready to mix nutes.

Adding a pump significantly increase gallons per day + increases the product water purity

You will need to provide the water to be processed under pressure

The resultant product water is clean, but energetically dead. By structuring it you will greatly improve its ability to mix and deliver nutes. Do a YT search for structured water

That's cool... I would like to know myself.
I'm thinking about getting a booster myself... in light of the new information that has been posted here.

Hydro logic sells booster pumps. Sounds like a lot of work to pump out of a rez, but if that's what u have to do then do it. Harbor freight sells a couple different booster pumps also.

I just gotta find out if these booster pumps are self priming if they are this means they don't need to have psi going to the inlet

I've never seen the hydrologic pump in person you can look it up. The harbor freight pumps would at least need to be gravity fed. I don't use them for r/o but I use a sump pump to pump out of a rezi to the pressure pump. You wouldn't need the first pump if you gravity fed and you can get a on demand pressure pump so it will turn itself on and off

I spoke with Dan from technical support for hydro logic he said that the stealth booster pump needs water flowing to it to create pressure this pressure can be generated by gravity even. In my situation I'm going to elevate my feeder res and install a 3/8 uniseal in the bottom and a float value to kick off the booster pump as not to run it dry which Dan also tells me will damage this make of pump. The booster pump can increase the psi to about 80 but they recommend 70 psi as not to damage the membrane in the filter. Pressure can be set with a screw located at the top of the pump
