Right now I have 4 Skywalker OG Runtz XL auto (sweet seeds) in seedling stage. White widow never fails imo, what photos are you growing? You guys in the US have crazy variety of strains.

I’m a very new grower.

I’ve got some ILGM autos going some seeds from Trust, a clone of his too

Thats a very informative table, thank you for sharing! I have a lot of spare time so I also do like to research stuff. I spend hours watching videos or, like today, reading long and sometimes tedious studies. (Lets be honest many people dont read them because they are LONG)

I drive a lot for work, so I do a lot of podcasts. KiS Organics has a very good science based, organic cannabis cultivation podcast. I've been slowly finding others but that's been my main one so far.

I see they have all their podcasts listed in their website, thanks! Im always looking forward for more info, I usually listen to stuff when I go to sleep and the next day I continue from where I lost consciousness takes a while to fall asleep so I do retain info before falling asleep.

Over here shampoo, soap and toothpaste with neem is being sold in shops, never had the idea its toxic.

Years ago i did spray it on a young bud with insects and the whole bud burned, i used way too much.

Now more preventive spraying with stinging nettle and potassic soap.

I used the search bar to try to find it so I wouldnt have to ask you why people voted no, but I didnt find it so I need to ask you, did people give reasons while voting no? Did they notice anything taste related? Did they find something that proved that other alternatives are safer? Im just trying to understand, I dont mean to be a pain in the ass and you dont have to answer if you dont want to.

So I've grown organically for a long time. I've used Neem in veg in the past, and in early flower before I knew better when I had a heavy aphid infestation... this was also before I knew about or practiced bud washing on my outdoor, and despite it being many weeks before harvest... those buds had a slight neem taste to them... like if you didn't know I had used it, you might write it off as a funky terpene... but it was there. I've had a friend give me bud that they used neem on later in flower... it was unsmokable to me. I use it on my flowers and non consumables still for random pests. It also has the ability to clog the stomata on the leaves and cause issues with transpiration... it is an oil after all. Any products with oil could do that as well. I try to keep the pests at bay and avoid full blown infestation. I have many companion plants in my garden to deter the pests, lavender, chamomile, mints, oregano, thyme, nasturtium etc. I use Lost Coast Plant Therapy as a preventative in veg, I try not to over do that because it also has oils. Scrogging helps me see issues right away. For PM, low fat milk spray works great, luckily didn't have that pop up last year. I also have BT if any caterpillars or munchers come along, but I don't like to use it much because it also kills the beneficial nematodes if it gets in the soil.

In my humble opinion DE earth is better than Neem, it's dirt cheap, organic, and will kill any pest with an exoskeleton, one time even killed off a case of thrips, only stuff I know that really kills off bedbugs as I used it at a friend's house after he brought them in from a hotel, can be bought at any hardware store for $6 bucks a bag, just don't dust flower is all.

I use it in veg (never used it in flower much less sprayed it on the buds) and I didnt notice any change in flavour compared to untreated plants from the same strain. How much did you use? In flower we already know its a no no because some sulfuric compounds might linger around for 22 to 30 days inside the plant, and also limonoids but thats not a problem. The funky taste was most likely a sulfur compound. Again, what was the formula you used? I use 3ml of pure neem oil (no additives) and 3ml of potassium soap in 1 liter of water, couldnt notice any change in flavor the few times I had to do it but that stuff stinks I agree hahaha, only for a while tho.

Thats more worrying to me, the fact that people use dish soap, shampoo and toothpaste? That las one is new to me, must be a sodium bicarbonate based toothpaste otherwise its plain criminal. I only use pure neem oil and potassium soap (which decomposes quick and becomes potassium for the plant) very diluted in water.

I agree, for bugs I use DE, I only use neem oil when I see suspicious looking spots in the leaves (possible fungus, not spider mites or thrips). It has not happened many times luckily in all my years. I dont know if I never had fungus in my plants because I used neem oil right in time or because Ive been lucky to be honest. Many early symptoms of deficiencies, nute burn, root root, fungus, etc look alike in the early stages.

Did you use it in late veg or bloom? In that case it would explain the taste.

Guys, all the plants have oils in them, a 3% solution in 1 liter of water is barely oil... you use soap to create an emulsion with the oil. I have the feeling that many people that dislike neem have used it when it wasnt a good time to use it or used too much. I was looking more for toxicity stuff since I never noticed any weird taste (never used it in late veg or flower)
EDIT: Which could have happened to me too, I didnt know about the compounds staying for nearly a month inside the plant so had I used it close to harvest I would have probably noticed something.

I wish you could remember but its okay, at least you diluted it, Ive heard of people using it alone and thats a big facepalm, youre guaranteed to have it in your plants all the grow.
Id like to know the doses that people who dislike it used and at which point of the grow if possible.

Well if I use it now on my other plants, I do a tablespoon per gallon plus a squirt of dawn dishsoap... but like I said, the spraying it in flower fiasco was many moons ago before I knew better. I'd say I would still pick neem over some strong chemical if I had no choice... I wash my buds anyway... but I try to go the prevention route these days... makes life a little easier. I have used it in veg without incident, just not in recent years... and I tried to give them a bath after a day or so to get the residue off. I personally wouldn't use neem as a preventative on weed, too strong and smelly.

Thats about 5ml per liter compared to 3ml per liter that I use, thats 40% more. Ive read about washing buds for people who grow outdoors and all that dirt that can come out of the plants, but neem oil degrades fairly quickly and gets inside the plant, so it wouldnt really help you with that unless you sprayed it recently and youre gonna smoke it anyway since it will be inside the plant aswell. Its actually nutritious for some beneficial microbes and for the plant, but since its sulfuric compounds it can indeed affect the taste but in theory, based on what I read, not for more than a month, after that everything is normal stored food.
