New formula botanicare clearex

Walked through a local nursery today and accidentally happened upon the new version of Clearex.
Upon looking at the back label it states that the only active ingredient is .4% citric acid
yup.....very sad

So to make the same concentration....
To 1000ml of water add 4 grams of citric acid. Shake like hell and laugh hysterically at the money you just saved.

Or simply run plain water at the end like most of us do -BB

Beware though that this recipe has no preservatives so you will have to either keep it in the refrigerator or mix it as you need it and dump what you do not use.

On ebay you can get 2oz of food grade citric acid for 4 dollars including shipping...enough to make 14 liters of "Clearex"

from their site under the usage tab it says .......Directions for use: Mix 2 teaspoons of Clearex per gallon of water. Use Clearex with pure water only. Mix well and adjust pH.

There is more in Clearex than just water and citric acid. Have you read the label on the Sweet Raw? Its list only Magnesium Sulfate. I am pretty sure most nute companies leave a lot of their labels to make appeasing the EPA as easy as possible. A lot of products have to have special labels for certain states like Florida and Oregon.

The MSDS doesn't reveal much: "Ingredients: Electrolytes in a water-based solution". Wouldn't be throwing my money away on a product like that.

Might be something else in the new Clearex too, my homie just spilled some on his hands and they turned white and started burning him ...I don't believe that's enough citric acid to burn your skin so I wonder what caused that?

Stop believing that whatever is posted on the label is the ONLY ingredient and whatever is not listed is NOT in there.

They're not required to list the majority of ingredients that are in today's nutrients and additives on the label.

I do know that the previous Clearex label was like... 1.5% sucrose, 3.5% glucose, and water. AKA, sugar water? It definitely smells sweet, like sugar water. Someone gave me a gallon a while back and it's still sitting on the shelf...

I guess they changed it up to something a little more complex and (bro)scientific. :facepalm:

After a while you start to realize a lot of the fancy label "supplements" is just water and a fancy label..flushing with a low ppm nutrient solution will break up more ionic bonds in the salts than any clearex or final phase or whatever IMO

That's from trace amounts of h202 (hydrogen peroxide)

Well for naysayers...if you read carefully I did say that the only active ingredient listed is citric acid. If you choose to believe there is a magical ingredient in there than that is up to you. From the clearex bottle it says "active ingredient 0.4% Citric Acid, 99.6% Inert Ingredients

for the definition of those terms

(E) "Active ingredient" means any ingredient from which an agricultural additive derives all or part of its value or effectiveness and that is defined in the current edition of Merck's Chemical Index or recorded in Chemical Abstracts.

(F) "Inert ingredient" means an ingredient that is not active.

And I AM CERTAIN that it contains stabilizers, preservatives and other such items to keep its shelf life. It may also contain buffers and ph balancers as well....BUT this certainly does not mean that they are in any way active in any way shape or form to make the product work.

I feel its a fools paradise to think that nute companies are not in this game to simply increase their companies bottom line

I think if it's h202 even a small amount can have the reaction, done it a bunch of times. Only botanicare can tell you exactly what's in it though without going to a lab

Botanicare is a MONSANTO brand. if you want to grow the equivalent of Peaches and Cream Monsanto Corn (delicious but evil) keep financially supporting MONSANTO with the purchase of Botanicare's affordable and effective product line. or use citric acid and molassis and epsom salt ect.
