How far away are you using them. Each meter is different and requires a certain distance. Try the inkbird at 12-14 inches on multiple leaves. Lots of times its just the difference in the tools… I wouldn’t trust the fluke with that reading. In seeing aome heat stress but not at the level that would coincide with 85f leaf temps… 78-79 seems about right for the signs im seeing cause its not bad but nonetheless its thereYou can't measure leaf temps accurately now days with all the China junk IR's out there. Just measured them with a now $500 Fluke and a $35 Inkbird. China junk Inkbird has them on ave. 4F above ambient and the Fluke has them 2F below ambient. I'm done with leaf temps,,, those days are over for me. And my Fluke is so old they don't want to work on it anymore or calibrate. And it's $500 to replace it. While it's still accurate when it was calibrated 2 years ago the switch and power drain is horrible. The gun safe door is always at ambient air temp. Fluke shows 72F which is correct and the crappy China junk shows 78F. There are no issues with transpiration. Everything is fine. The plants foliage feed fantastic,,,, nothing is going to change in my grows concerning this topic.
I spent years making my living with IR's. I know how to use them, check calibration. The stress you are seeing was from them being under 24/7 lighting from helmet heads for two weeks because I wanted to kick this grow off in the ass. They complained and went to 18/6. Not long after that the wife started having medical issues and my attention went to her and both grows suffered. Then we had a historic rain and storm event 10" plus rain with loss of power and environmental issues which brought a hellish amount of issues to the grow and life in general. Now I need to take my wife to a doctors appointment and get my head wrapped around that issue....How far away are you using them. Each meter is different and requires a certain distance. Sorry to hear that brother, thats not an easy thing to deal with and i know how draining it can be. I just came back from a long break with my own issues and it can be overwhelming to say the least at times. I hope you find your gardens as therapeutic as i did when i was growing. Sending some positive vibes your way, as hard as shit gets it can be hard to stay positive so hopefully it can make a small difference. Yep exactly right. And those leaf temps do come down as you mentioned in another post. Mine are 6 degrees cooler right now with a couple young plants. Kpa right now should be .4 - .8 at that growth stage.Hmmm i have a feeling you bot accounting for leaf temps in your VPD calculations or you may be using a ln online chart for reference? You should be around 65% imo around this size for tgose temps under LED
Aqua,,, theres just some small tweaks and fine tuning I'm never going to mess with again or chase. I've spent decades in this grow game. I'm either a dirt farmer or full hydro. I'll never do a coco grow again for example. On this grow I'm using Nectar of the Gods for my ferts. That is a huge change for me. The last 10 plus years I've only used Bloom City dry ferts and my simple fortified water. I was working to hard to mess with the finer things in nute world. Once I sold off all my Hemi cars, motorcycles and my man cave shop and living quarters in Arkansas with my own indoor shooting range, hydro went to the way side. I don't have the room for a hydro grow now as I use to. As a older grower that has struggled with lighting and lack there of for 40 plus years. I'm more than a tad anal retentive about it and like my Apogee. And I like it better than a good ir thermo or optical thermo. I spent so many years in boiler rooms, steam chases, mechanical rooms repairing and balancing steam, chilled water, heating hot water and domestic hot water systems and avoiding heat exhaustion and heat stroke I really could give two shits what a weed leaf's temp is anymore,,,, lmao. Then for this grow the plants are sativa dominant Alaskan Thunder Fuck which means there as crazy as girls in puberty and menopause. So I'm just going to let them rage and cuss right back at them. For the challenges you are facing they are looking pretty dam good. I didn’t realize when i was making suggestions that your under such circumstances and some small tweaks are surely the least of your worries.
Millwright by trade… but pretty much have done em all still for the most part do all my own work on vehicles and done more probono work for ppl i know than myself… i hear ya…. At some point things just aren’t worth continuing to chase or do anymore when the big things mean so much more.Aqua,,, theres just some small tweaks and fine tuning I'm never going to mess with again or chase. Does not surprise me your a Millwright. I was known as the factory Millwright the last 20 years of my career reping B&G, Cleaver Brooks, Aurora, Goulds, M&M, Spence, Hoffman, Nicolson, Fisher, ITT Standard, Raypak, Lochinvar and many others. If I had to fix it to keep your warranty it started at $1k a hour. If they pulled there heads out and did what I told them all was good. Or I would strip the job and equipment of all warranty.Millwright by trade… but pretty much have done em all still for the most part do all my own work on vehicles and done more probono work for ppl i know than myself… i hear ya…. Getting older has its advantages… but as im learning it has its disadvantages also and priorities change drastically
Small world brother, it still amazes me how much we all can find in common with a simple conversation. There are fewer and fewer of us craft and tradesmen everyday. With no young men really wanting to work much less think and learn. It's all going down hill in a big hurry. I have been very impressed with the handful of women that have came into the trades over the years that I have worked with be them union or open shop.Small world brother, it still amazes me how much we all can find in common with a simple conversation. sadly people don’t want to work anymore granted I’m only 34 but have been building houses with my old man since I was 15 ground to completion also did commercial construction for quite some time. Plant I work at the guys probably spend 4 full hours out of their shift actually working and they complain about that, I can’t comprehend how 20 year olds can’t hold a job more than 30 days. I was done picking up the slack for lazy Union brothers that were protected for being pieces of shit, when I was offered salary I took it in a second. I still love building stuff, woodworking is a passion for me just wish I had more time to do it.There are fewer and fewer of us craft and tradesmen everyday. This is a very nice set up and everything is well documented. Mind if I ask, what is that inkbird/ac infinity? I've got the t6 and the controller it came with controls my humidity but only through the fan itself. Is that controller controlling more than just the fan?
The Infinity controller is just controlling the exhaust fan by temp. The Inkbird is controlling the humidifier independent of the Infinity controller. If you use the Infinity controller to control humidity the humidifier has to be on all the time and the Infinity just sucks the humidity out of the tent to control it. With the Inkbird it turns the humidifier on and off at the set point. I do set the Infinity with a high humdidity setpoint 10% above the Inkbird setpoint. So if there is a humidity spike during lights off cycle the Infinity controller will run the exhaust fan to bring that spike down. The Inkbird can be used to control a humidifier, dehumidifier, A/C, heater, circ fans and such. BUT you can only control and have hooked up any two actions at anyone time. The Inkbird adds another layer of control and flexibility. This is a very nice set up and everything is well documented. Mind if I ask, what is that inkbird/ac infinity? I use the Inkbird to control the humidifier by setpoint in the Inkbird.Your plants look pretty happy!! I have nearly the same setup, except I have the older HLG 300L's, also w/AC infinity ventilation. I put my AC setup inside though. Your scrog netting looks like the way to do it, I did mine with just 4 corners fastened with zip ties. It sorta helped ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I like yours better, surely more effective the way you set it up. How has the humidifier been doing with the humidity? I don't have one, and I'm usually around 40%, I spray bottle mist, and it'll go above 50% so I've thought about getting one.
I have yet to find a humidifier that does not need to be manually restarted if power is interrupted. I would love to use my inkbirds to turn them on and off automatically but cannot because they won’t restart when power is restored until I push the on button. Inkbirds work great on the dehumidifier side of things.I use the Inkbird to control the humidifier by setpoint in the Inkbird.
