Hey how’s it going everyone?

I’m new to the community and I’m brand new to growing as well. I want to get as deep as it gets when it comes to growing so, I join different communities to see what the experts have to say.

I believe in trial and error and, I kind of want to make mistakes in the beginning. That’s the way I learn. I just need people to let me know what mistakes I’m making, when I make them.

So, I’m starting off on a budget, with all at home equipment (can’t afford a tent ant the complete kit at the moment). Things will change soon hut until then I have to work with what I have.

I’m using a fish tank wrapped with reflectix 🤣, two clip fans, and two Walmart grow lights. I have to remove the bad air, and turn off the lights manually. I do feed them nutrients. Just the basic on-a-budget stuff to get them started.

Just looking for anyone to assist and help me come a pro like you guys. Im a share the wealth kind of guy so the knowledge won’t go unappreciated…
Btw guys, theses plants are 6 weeks. Something tells me that I’m not treating the right! There’s white spots on them and I know they should be bigger. Can someone keep it real and put me in my place on what I should do? I LOVE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM…

Welcome to the Farm! Those are awesome looking fish tank plants! : ) youll get lots of help around here : )

What medium are you in? (Soil, coco, custom mix?)
How many watts are your lights? How far/close are they from the plants?
The nutes you have, what exactly are they and how much are you using? And how are you using them?
Whats your temperature in the fish tank? what’s the humidity?

You got those fans going thats good : ) the markings on the leaf are kind of hard to see with the purple light. Do you think you could have spilled a little water nutes or some water splashed some dirt up on them? Is that the only leaf/plant that is showing signs of of that?

This is what I use. All cheap stuff to practice ice with. I also added some worm castings to the soil mix.
The lights are as high as they can go. They’re roughly a foot away from the plants now.
I go by the directions on the bottles for the nutes but I just started watering them twice a week. I was going once since they were seedlings and didn’t want to over water.
The tank usually ranges from 25c -30c and since I can’t really control the humidity I keep a slightly warm solo cup of water in there with them. The humidity ranges between 60-70%.
As far as the spots, they’re white but I honestly do remember spilling water on them and getting soil in them from falling over due to the heavy water… The others have a tiny white dot or two on them…

With the exception of the tent and equipment (which I will be purchasing within the next couple of weeks) I don’t want to buy the top notch nutes and things until I know I got this part locked down

That plant looks great. Happy and healthy. You may try raising it towards the lights a few inches or if you can drop them a little bit. Not much at a time thought as you want to see how the plants respond without burning them.

There are definitely top notch nutes out there in the hydro world. But there are some very affordable nutes at entry level amounts so you can try them out. Check out green leaf. They have small packs of their stuff so you dont have to buy 22lbs lol! You can have a veg, bloom, and and booster for around 30 bucks (money well spent and super to use) there are others also!

Not sure what the white spots are other than those darker spots on the leaf. Can you wipe the white spots off? Are they super tiny or like a dot (pencil sized’ish lol)

Super tiny and some about half the dot size…. I’m not gonna lie, I was stressing a little until now. I’m definitely gonna check out that brand of nutes and keep you posted. Btw, I’m in New Jersey…
