I have an old led light i used before in a reef aquarium and wanted to know if that would work too if it can grow corals I figured it should be strong enough for plants too. Need advice on led with th we temu kit also. Thanks

Your coral light is likely not strong enough to grow a full cycle cannabis plant. It could work for supplemental lighting but not as a stand alone light.

The general rule of thumb for lighting is about 30 watts of quality LED light per 1 ft sq area. The advertised tent has 4 ft sq of space and is offering a 100 watt fixture to light it so even there the lighting is limited and under spec. Also a 24" x 24" space isn't much. It's barely enough to grow 1 plant. If you're looking for a kit, try looking at some of the offerings from Spider Farmer. You will get better quality.

If it were me, I would pass on the Temu kit. There's better kits out there that contain better lighting/tent size and most likely better quality equipment all the way around.

Thanks for convincing me not to go too cheap first try. I did get the 24x24x48 tent and am now looking at this 100 watt dimmable light. I believe this is what you were recommending for this size tent.

Amazon.com : Spider Farmer SF1000 100W LED Grow Light for Indoor Plants, Upgraded High Efficiency LEDs, Dimmable Full Spectrum High PPFD, Deep Penetration for Seed Starting/Vegetables/Bloom in 2x2/3x3 Grow Tent : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Amazon.com : Spider Farmer SF1000 100W LED Grow Light for Indoor Plants, Upgraded High Efficiency LEDs, Dimmable Full Spectrum High PPFD, Deep Penetration for Seed Starting/Vegetables/Bloom in 2x2/3x3 Grow Tent : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Ill need to learn about the ggs controller whatever that is. Will i need some humidity and temp management also?

Maybe this would work well with the tent set up?

This is my 4ft high tent, you don't need tall plants, you want "full" plants.

When buying equipment, unless it’s like pots clip on fans nd small accessories I’d avoid Amazon nd temu so on,

I’d recommend getting your light fixture off a hydroponic web sight or even locally,

Can garuntee 90% of the lights nd tht on Amazon so on have false statements on there input output, a 600w led on Amazon will likely pull 90w from the wall nd they claimed Samsung diodes, turns out it was just cheap diods I wouldn’t take the risk, go with a trusted seller for your grow equipment

Your 24 x 24 tent is very small. I would never go that small, but that is me personally. 100 watt dimmable is still undersized for your space. Minimum 120 watts and better yet would be 150 Watt with dimmer.

PS - For what its worth, for me anything under a 4 x 4 in tent size is too small.

True, but if you're going to be giving advice at least make sure its good advice. What I see here is a new grower needing honest answers and realistic expectations about what the equipment he's looking at can and can't do. Your answers leave a lot to be desired.

You should be talking about the limits of a 24" x 24" x 48" tent size. Realistically this limits a grower to one mature plant. The 2 x 2 size will force a lot of bad habits because the grower will have no choice. Even the smallest plant will grow into the sides of a 2 x 2 causing condensation and potential fungal issues. He'll be limited to about 2 oz per run and that's only if he's lucky. The light you helped him choose is under powered even for the undersized space he's attempting to grow in. Your advice could have guided @Roachgod to make smarter purchases if you'd actually thought about what he's asking about. Even a 3 x 3 x 4 or a 2 x 4 x 4 would have made more sense than that 2 x 2.

Sometimes you have to start with what you can afford sounds like he may have limited funds

That's possible. We're likely only talking $10-$20 difference to put him in a better position to succeed. It's more about giving the right information including pros and cons up front and then letting the new grower decide what is best based on all the information he has.

Thanks. I already bought just a 2x2x4 tent thinking it was big enough for one plant. I didn't realize they got any larger footprint than that. Ill start with it and upgrade later just to get the hang of it and maybe I could use the smaller tent and light for seedlings or something else later. I appreciate both points of view and will consider both for future purchases. If the 100 watt light isn't quite strong enough maybe I could supplement it with the aquarium led light I used for corals in a saltwater reef tank. I ordered an outlet controller ggs to help keep consistent schedule and variables..

I agree that your 2x2x4 tent may be a bit small, but as you mention you can surely use it later on as a small veg tent.

About the light, it's true that 100w is not a whole lot, but that is mostly considering how much light the plants will need during the flowering stage. This picture shows 4 plants grown under a 100w LED light in just 9 weeks from seed in a tent slightly bigger than your tent, so 100w is not nothing, it's just the flowering stage that requires a lot more light and space.
