I am on Day 44 of my fem photo banana kush. I topped it on Saturday. There is a lot of growing but some leaves are so big that the new growth gets little or no light. Should I trim the big leaves ( is that what "shade" leaves are?) off top and lowest big leaves?

I'm on my 6th grow with autos but here is general advice. Your plant is very bushy and you should remove some of the fan leaves to allow bottom bud sites to get more access to light. I remove a few fan leaves and let plant recover for 2 days before I remove a few more. Don't trim everything in one session and you can also use gardening stakes to tuck some of bottom fan leaves. This will allow some photosynthesis to continue even though they are tucked away. You also should've lollipopped (cut bottom branches that wouldn't get much light) your plant to allow it to concentrate all its energy only on top bud producing sites

Can I still lollipop the bottom-most leaves, beneath first node? The plant is 6 weeks old. Thank you!

Can i use zip ties? or fold over and secure with a plastic covered twistie? whatmethod do you use to tie down? Thank you.
I build a little floor hole system and then i just use a wire and make little S you could do the same with your pots.

Or you can go even simpler and put some holes on the sides.
Ooor you can find some L and dig them in the dirt soo it holds your branch

For starters, I could, though not ideal, use wooden popsicle sticks with a hole drilled at top to secure twistie. I will look on amazon for garden stakes.

Just watch out that green garden wire is really thin and usually gets inside the plant

Yea L like this

I'm think going to use upcycled wire hangers...i can get two 7-8" U loops per hanger...just need to cut them...first I will lollipop two bottom-most leaves, then securely bend 2 big leaves...and wait a few days, then bend and secure 2 more big leaves...I'm a newbie so please bare with me......sound like a good plan?

I been researching lollipop and get all different and conflicting info as to when I should lollipop....I cant find out if a 7 week plant is too old to lollipop (7 weeks from initial seed germination), has been in veg for about 3 weeks now...ugh

Went ahead and cut 2 small leaves near base, bottom....then i cut 2 largest, top shade leaves and bent 2 large shade leaves..180 degees apart...you can see what is remaining has lots of growth...Should I wait a few days, then bend 2 more and/or cut 2 more?

i would put the wire before the leaf on the stem but yea looks good.once the little bud sites get light they will start growing like crazy

You might try watering less frequently. The texture and thickness of your leaves and the shape of your plant suggest over-watering. If you give the roots more of a chance to breathe, the plant will branch out more and be less compact. Just an idea.
