But to my question. When setting a target (temp/humidity, temp, humidity or vpd), is there a way to set separate targets for lights on & lights off. At my current level of understanding there is only one possible target setting regardless of light status. Am I missing something?

Your question might get more views if it were in a separate thread.

There aren't many growers using the AI+ controller yet, including me. That said, I may not be understanding your question. Lights don't have many options. Usually, they only have an on/off schedule and sunrise/sunset transitions. They don't change due to environmental conditions.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve been fiddling a bit more & got it sorted a lot better. Essentially with the AI you set an environmental target from one of 4 different parameters 1. Temp/humidity 2. Temp 3. Humidity. Or 4. Vpd. & it seems that is the target AI uses continuously whether lights on/day time or lights off/night time. I was using temp/humidity as my target, fine during the day/lights on but doesn’t make sense using that same target during lights off/night time.
But…since playing around I’m now using vpd set at 0.9kpa as my target which is an achievable target with temp difference between lights on & off.

Geez that’s quite a woffle sorry, hope it made a little sense

I just got the AI+ controller for a 2x4 tent. I let the controller run run for 24 hours with the AI setting for photo cannabis seedlings, and VPD as the target. The Dynamic Grow Light setting was on, so the lights ran at 10 for 24 hours. After finding the best time to run the lights, the lights remained at 10, but that is not the correct setting for seedlings. The tent manual says to run the lights at 4, at 18 inches away from the plants. I manually changed the lights to 4. Do I also need to manually change the ventilation blower setting from 2 to something else, or will AI adjust its setting automatically? I think the recipe setting for seedlings ventilation on the Controller 69 Pro was 5. I think a setting of 5 on the controller 69 Pro was excesive for seedlings. A setting of 2 for ventilation seems correct to me, but I am wondering if AI will adjust it automatically or if it will stay set at 2 no matter what.

I got the answer to my own question. Under device settings the light only accepts one value, but the ventilation settings has min and max settings. In my case the lights are set to 4, and ventilation min 2/max 5. AI will adjust automatically the ventilation using the min/max values.

Got the controller ai when I upgraded my fan. I'm liking it so far. When I set it up I didn't pick beginner, or choose the preset options.

I'm not using automation yet. What's the best way to use the ai? Should I set by the vpd mode?

I'm running my heater, humidifier and exhaust fan on it so far. But the way I have it setup, the fan doesn't kick on because once it reaches set temp or humidity, the devices shut off so it doesn't go beyond that. Don't know if I should set the fan on cycle for fresh air.

Also I noticed my humidifier runs at level 10. I went in to "on" and set max level to 3 but it always runs on 10. Am I missing something?

Thanks :)

I need to unfollow the Trainwreck thread, I don't see these notifications because when I come on here, I have pages of Trainwreck notifications and nothing else

I run my exhaust 24/7 for air exchange.

How you run the controller depends on how well your able to stablize the environment.
If you run VPD, I would keep temp at a constant and have Humidity change the VPD.
Then you don't have devices fighting each other to try and stablize VPD.

As far as your humidifier running at 10, I would have to see screenshots of how you have everything setup in the Controller.

No worries. The same thing happens to me. I don't always get notifications haha. I'll set to run by vpd tonight when I get home. Also I'll get some screenshots for you.

It's not too much of an issue, I just need to fill humidifier every day. Goes through water pretty quick.

I'm assuming you're using the AC Infinity Humidifier?

Does it run constantly at level 10? Does it ever shut off or just runs continuously until empty?

Be nice to setup an automatic refill but would need RO or distilled water to refill with.

I may have figured out the humidifier level. All but my lights are ac infinity, I have them on a seperate timer.

I have some screenshots. I'm kind of more confused. I can't seem to get my fan to run. I didn't see any on button on the fan itself. I don't know how to get it turned on.

When i try to turn the fan on using the controller, I dont see an actual way to turn it on. When I go to the on option, it just lets me set the speed level.

I'm currently trying in Ai mode. Don't know if it's better to run in Ai mode or normal mode.

On your first screenshot, go to Device Settings. From there set the speed for the fan. That is it, there is no way to turn it on/off manually if AI is running.

I know this post is older but I’m curious as what your guys vpd swing is in AI mode? I ran the ai for two days and wasn’t happy with the vpd swing it was going from .9-1.2. I can keep it between 1.13-1.19 if I don’t use ai and just set my own automation. I really want to run ai mode but it’s not looking possible for me atm. I just read through this and saw a post saying to set a constant temp and let the humidity change vpd. I may give that a try if I have any downtime in the tent before my next run.

Also has anyone tried the day and night modes for the ai? I thought I just read that the update is supposed to add that.

I've never ran mine on ai mode. When I first got the controller I tried ai mode but didn't like it. It apparently takes a while for it to get the baseline.

I think I had some swings also so I said screw it. I now just set everything using the triggers.

Automations you can give a shot. But again, I never used automations.

Yea I may just have to run the Ai for a week with nothing in the tent for it to figure everything out.

I’ve run the AI for about a month and a half to try it out. Not really the biggest fan. The VPD will fluxuate from about 1.28 with the lights off to about 2.4 with the lights on. My humidity levels stay kinda level, 54% with lights on and 60% with lights off. But temperature goes a little more wild, high of 90deg with lights on, and 76deg with lights off.

I had it set to humidity of 35-55%, and temp 65-85deg. At first I tried adjusting the temp and humidity ranges, thinking that would do much, but it doesn’t. So I tried plugging in the lung room dehumidifier, and changing the exhaust settings. Neither really improved it.

Like right now, temp is 77.7deg (lights off). Humidity is 61.2%. Humidity is outside the range, so I figured AI would set it to cycle more exhaust air (lung room is 38% humidity). But the controller has the exhaust set at level 2, so it’s not cycling much air. And yet it’s keeping the dehumidifier on.

IDK, but I think I could have, and would have, done a much better job if I just programmed it myself to have high/low temp and humidity values during day/night.

I know the thread is a few months old, but I'm having a problem. When I press pause it gives me this screen. I have the controller on the tent, the temp/humidity hanging inside, 2 fans, exhaust and humidifier. What do they want?

One is in the controller (on the tent) and the other is hanging and plugged in.
The controller seems to be working, I think there's something up with the App.

I'm not sure because I don't run the ai option. I would say you may be getting that screen because something needs to be plugged in for ai to run? as for 2 sensors, it may be set up as having 2 sensors. 1 for temp, 1 for humidity but I'm not sure.
