First time grower: A two month old, recently repotted into 5gallon bag, using fox farm coco coir, mixed with super soil on the bottom, worm castings on the side soil. topped a couple of weeks ago. I am trying to do it organically (not feeding bottled nutrients), but I did take my time to repot since I didn't want to repot just after topping. Watering only when the leaves look a little droopy (which could be about 3-4 days in a fabric pot). I noticed a few lower leaves turning yellow and was wondering if this is nitrogen deficiency. Also I have never tested my water's PH level (well water), but for two months didn't see any problems with the same water. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! (I may have also left it out in the sun - some other plants that went out to sunbathe turned dramatically yellow/brown)...

i cant remember who, but a member here posted this, and i found it useful to use to get the info folks here like

1. Are you growing from seed or clones?

2. How old are your plants?

3. How tall are your plants?

4. What size containers are they planted in?

5. What is your soil mix?

6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use?

7. What is the pH of your water?

8. What kind of fertilizer do you use and what is its NPK ratio?

9. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything?

10. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights")

11. How close are your lights to the plants?

12. What size is your grow space in square feet?

13. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space?

14. What is the pH of the soil?

15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space?

16. How much experience do you have growing?

I use mars hydro 1000 about 15-18 or so inches from the plant, but if anything they've been going outside part-time, in strong sun for a few hours, and I know that's been detrimental to a couple of other plants. this plant is about 18 inches tall from base, and has been topped two weeks ago, and repotted to 5 gallon fabric bag. I have not been measuring PH at all. no other nutrients have been given except for super soil mix and worm casting in coco loco soil. no insects. I water to a few drops of run off), then wait until the leaves don't look quite as energetic and the pot feels light (maybe every 4 days or so).

I realize that I should measure ph for my water/soil - there seems to be a lot of options out there, so can anyone recommend one that is economic and reliable?

You either need to lightly feed or add some microbes and enzymes which is not a bad idea anyway.
I think your soil is missing a couple of things. What kind of soil?

I coco loco from fox farm mainly - but added some worm casting (maybe 10%?) and a cup of super soil organic concentrate as recommended...

Looks good enough. Taking outside in full sun could have done a little damage.
some Burnt tips. Make sure your watering frequently enough. Might be able to go to 3 days.
Little hungry for cal mag as well. But looks good.
You won’t keep every leaf happy, it’s ok!

Hmmm., so, topping and repotting - that's really it for this plant... could just be adjusting to the new existence? Since I waited too long to repot, maybe it used up the nitrogen?

You need to slightly feed it. What you have seems not to be enough for it.

Thank you!! since I mixed in the super soil in the 1/3 bottom when replanting, maybe it will soon recover?

That's very possible. cal-mag will handle the leaves, but if you don't feed a bit other issues will show up and compound the problem.
Give it a light feeding.
How are you watering?

Thank you! what do you recommend? I don't have any nutrients bought - thought I could do with relying on "organic" soil... should I get the fox farm trio liquid nutrients? sorry I've come this far on first try and really want to see it through...

Because of the media you are using, you will need to feed more often than fully organic.

When I transplant, I use the same materials throughout, you want the soil profile to be consistent.
your doing great tho! Keep it up.

Fox Farms Cultivation Nation Grow and Bloom.
Both dry nutes. You top dress then water.
I would add a scoop of Recharge as well just to boost the organics.
You don't want to add too much food. Your trying to stay organic.

Yep, that is the one. Recharge. Use it with every grow. Mix it in to the soil before planting.
