Ok so I have my lights, my hydro system, and my grow room set up and now I am looking into what strain I want to grow. I have been looking at a strain called 'Blue Dream'. I like the high I get from this weed and I am 99% sure I want to grow it. It is a Blueberry x Haze and I am looking at the yield of the plant. It says 2lbs./1000w of lighting. I want to know what that means. Does that mean 2lbs. per 8x8 grow space? Does it mean 2lbs./plant under 1000w lighting? Which to me seems highly unlikely. I read somewhere that this plant is capable of producing up to 7lbs./plant outdoors but to tell you the truth I have no idea what a good plant is capable of producing indoor or out since I have very little cannabis growing experience. I am looking for a strain that has the capabilities of producing a higher potency but also has a decent yield. Well if someone could shed some light on the subject that would be great thanks.

first you gotta try growing the 2 elbows per 1000 watt is more along the lines for growers who are experienced////also most strains are rated as per square meter so roughly 40'' x 40'' ///a 1000 watt light has a good 5'x5' radius for productive gardening a 8x8 or 10x10 space would reqiure [if using 1000 watt hids] you to put 4-5 up///if using a 600 watt hps in an 8x8 space you would use 6 600s to cover the area being used with proper wattage and lumens//also what kind of dro system you running not all dro systems are capable some are for sog and some are more of a dd/uc style of grow ///are you vertical or horizontal [with lighting] what kinda nutes you plan on running synthetic or organic then what brand ///my point being theres more to just popping beans or jumpin clones and yankin weight///outside the sun produces 1400 or 1600 watts per square foot where indoors in general the lights are rated as meter squared

Blue Dream is a good first time strain.. You might also look into White Widow, and Black Domina..WW has good potential yield is easy to grow. DB is very mold resistant(mold, and spider mites are a menace to everyone, but even worse for growers without much experience), grows fast(8 weeks normally), and has good yields..You could also try Blue Venom(blue Widow) which was one of my first strains, and was extremely forgiving to the many mistakes I made..
If I had it all to do over from the start I would be looking to just produce quality as opposed to quantity. Once you have the ability to grow quality, then you can start looking into "training"(LST, suppercropping, etc), and go for yield as well...
Also if you are like me and dont have a mentor or a friend with growing experience then keep cannabis grow forums in the favorites tab, and ask, ask, ask questions... Take care, good luck...

First of all thanks 420king-MASSES for the reply :) I appreciate the help. You pretty much told me exactly what I wanted to know. I was confused when reading the yields of strains because some sites stated (for blue dream) 350g-450g/m² and others stated 2lbs/1000w. 1000w is effective up to 5'x5' and supplemental up to 8'x8', thanks for that. Some places I have read 8'x8' effective and 10'x10' supplemental for 1000w. Sun produces 1400w-1600w/ft². This is my first experience using lights indoor so bare with me :D

The hydro system is a Top Feed/Dutch Bucket style system with horizontal lighting on chains to allow them to be lowered or raised. Lights are sealed and have tubes in/out of room walls. I would do vertical lighting if I could but at this point I cannot. The drip lines and bucket layout are similar to Doubleds system but has it's differences. It pretty much is a small CropKing system, if you're not sure what I am talking about follow this link :) You can see the Dutch Buckets in series with tomatoes...just picture weed in them. I have 2 1000w's hung right now and 2 more sitting on the side. I know it's not about putting a few beans in the ground ;) I have hydro experience growing tomatoes (dutch bucket/top feed), cucumbers (dutch bucket/top feed), and lettuce (NFT). I have read so many different things about growing cannabis indoors and the lighting it needs it almost gets over whelming sometimes lol. My total grow space is 8'x12' but I don't plan on using the whole space my first go at it. As for nutes, I am still looking into it. I am not 100% on what nutrients I am going to use yet but I will be making my final decision in the next few days :P I will have pics eventually! That is for sure :) Thanks Again

Thanks vonwolfen I really appreciate the good advice :D I am most definitely looking for quality my first time around. I was just simply asking about how they define yields per watt/m². I have been looking at LST and some other cropping methods for shits and giggles. I have NO good grower friends lol. For the most part a lot of the people I have seen grow cannabis have failed and then abruptly given up. I got all of my lighting from a friend that didn't know what to do with them after he had given up on his last indoor soil grow. I understand that growing takes a lot of trial and error :) and I am definitely not the type that will give up if I run into problems ;) I'm here to learn, learn, learn, and hopefully in the end grow some really fine herb :P and if not, I'll do it my second time around :) I have taken care of acres of spider mites/aphids/codling moth/fungi/virus/etc... in the past and boy is that a bitch. I may try another strain that you have mentioned above...I will definitely look into them. Thanks Guys.

okay section off that room and use 2of your g-note bangers in a space of 5x10 and then you should be golden you got mad hydro experience //the thing with marytrees is everyones got there own little tricks they do so it seems like alot to handle but in fact its eazy as shit put your time in the veg and promote abundant root growth and in flower all you gotta do is stay on top of things but still dont put to much thought into it you will always 2nd guess yourself//imvho just take what you already know and apply it to the green-goddess and you will surprise yourself at what you pull at harvest

My understanding is a new/poorly set up grow system will usually get less than 0.3grams per watt per harvest. If you get over 0.3grams per watt you're doing pretty decent, and if you're getting close to 1 gram per watt then you're doing excellent. From 'post your yield' threads I've read and various grow threads, the average grow seems to get around 0.5 grams per watt. It's just per watt, not per plant or per sq foot or anything like that.

Hey thanks everyone I really appreciate the warm welcome and help. I have been putting my system together the last couple of days and did my first test run last night. The only things I am waiting on is a co2 regulator and controller :) I will be picking them up on Friday or Saturday from my local hydro shop. I can't believe how much information is contained within this forum. It is awesome. You guys have done so much hard work making it a little easier for the new grower to come in and start from nothing. Definitely gives someone a sense of direction. Thanks again. See you guys around :)
