So got a 12x10x12 foot greenhouse and I'm considering just doing 6 plants from clones (ice cream) starting in June(I live in socal). I really don't feel like spending a bunch of money on cages and supports so I'm considering just removing a bottom third of the plant /pruning and growing the plants naturally no topping or lst. Will this substantially lower my yeild and quality and what type of yield could I expect from this grow? Also if this idea will lower my yeild how do I setup a cheap support system that would support my plants after topping.

I think your idea of pruning the lover 1/3 is good in my opinion I would ring them with a large rectangular fence wire let the plant grow they can take a lot of weight themselves without the wire ring I did one in my orchard didn’t use anything and got 15 lb off it . Keep us posted on the grow I’m keen to see how it pans which either way you do it . Regards OD .

The floor of the greenhouse is hard clay. The smart pots are 14" inches in height by 17" in diameter so I was thinking of digging holes that were 15 inches deep and 20 inches in diameter and making the cages 2.5 feet in diameter and placing the pots in the holes and using lst and placing the pots in the holes so I have 5 feet of support using this. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbil...l-Welded-Wire-Garden-Fence-308303EB/205708553

I can imagine these clones getting any taller than 6 feet so any extra support I'd need later in flower I'd just use hemp rope tied to the top of the green house. Also I'd keep the cages together with zip ties. I got the idea here
This would cost me about 70 altogether. I'm also considering maybe toping once at the 5th node but IDK if my cage is big enough in diameter for that.

I figure this was a total because I've had friends throw random bag seeds on their lawn and fed it miracle grow every few weeks. He harvested like 5 pounds per plant after they got like 8 to 10 feet tall. It was total garbage though. Like it took a blunt to get even remotely high off of. He ended up giving most of it away. We made walking sticks from the trunks.

That thing must've been like that picture of that plant someone in Nepal found that was 20 feet tall.
