What i don't understand is this
If the base nutrient has all that is needed Why add more individual nutrients? I thought all the separate minerals and such were for building your own base for your grow.

This is more complicated question than it might seem on the surface!

The simple answer is you don't need to add anything if it's a good, complete product. The one exception is when you use RO water it is important to supplement with cal/mag.

GH trio and most tap water will get you over the finish line.

The more complex answer is that you may want to add things. I will always include a silica supplement in my hydro grows after finally trying it and seeing the results for myself. I spent years saying it was probably a waste of money and I was wrong. Same for humic acid.

My stinky bloom booster is probably the one true optional addition but I just love the funk too much!

I'm also assuming you're talking about hydro but I could be wrong.

Kind of the $64,000 question when it comes to nutrients. Lots of people, including me, have run a nute program flat (same dosing) for entire grows without issue. Supplements and additives come into it either when your plants show you that they need more of something, or when you're trying to eke a little more yield and/or quality from a system that's stable.

Exactly! You see people running the Lucas method which basically turns the GH trio into a duo with a 5-5-5 NPK and you tweak it from there. I do not endorse this specific method because it has limitations I don't like but it's a sound approach that appeals to growers looking to simplify.

I have no problem running a veg tent and a flower tent off the same reservoir.

Less is more, until it's not! 💚

Some are useful in certain situations & beneficial
Others are just cash grabs
Like add x & your hair will grow
It’s a loaded question tbh

Would perfectly fertile soil reliably grow plants perfectly well?

I think not in most circumstances. Reliably growing crops that meet expectations may be as close to perfection as anyone will ever achieve. What those expectations are is left to the individual to determine.

Sorry. Talking more outdoor/indoor organic.
