Nutrients vs plain water advise

First ever grow and was just curious is there a huge difference in using nutrients vs plain water? I used to use Advanced Nutrients Ph perfect micro grow bloom but the more I’m on forums I’m noticing a lot of outdoor grows use little to no nutrients. Thank you for all of y’alls input. I really appreciate it

I definitely give nutes to my grow, even with my good amended soil I started with. Yes there's a difference. You certainly can just use plain water if you start with good soil, but my plants get much bigger, and produce way more if I feed them what they're asking for depending on what part of the grow cycle they're in.
