Yeah it took some time squigs, but really there was very little social movement post revolution for anyone that did not have that ability in the U.k.. That is how I look at revolutions, before and after. The five years idea is just a number, often revolutions fall apart sooner, some later. Jefferson and his use of presidential powers for the Louisiana purchase may have been the beginning to the end with the American one.

First off, it wasn't the UK then--it was the British Empire. Second, there was an absolute explosion of opportunity in this country post-revolution. In fact, there have been several such leaps in the intervening time. The push to educate the masses. The creation of the middle class, etc., etc.

If you think nothing changed as a result of America's revolution you must be from an alternate dimension.

I'm no America fanboy, but I think you've been very short sighted on this one.

As neither one of us were alive at the time, I'd say it would be difficult to pinpoint when things went to pot after the revolution. From what I know of Thomas Jefferson and his Presidency it was not then. Jefferson hated tyranny, banks, grew his own pot, and IMHO was a very wise man.

I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.
Thomas Jefferson

THIS IS WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN!!!

Not only will it take getting rid of the TREASONOUS GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS in place right now.....but WE MUST KEEP the Corporations OUT of Government.

The opportunity did not reach outside of the white male, that is where I see it short of revolution. Revolution= (and mind you this is my organic definition, meaning I am not taking wiki or google for this one) radical social, political and economic change that effects the majority of the populace in any country.

We came close to revolution, but from what I believe we came up short.

Jefferson was awesome, I love reading the available writing and his influence in our government was undeniably needed. That said, if we cannot accurately study anything unless we were alive during the time than we are surely up shits creek as far as ever understanding anything. Jefferson's view/ paranoia towards a centralized power seemed to go to the wayside when he took that power, I used the Louisiana purchase as evidence. Look it up. That is where I would say our revolution was beginning to end.

As far as revolution. What are the details, or in other words what would change in an utopian idea of revolution. How would the country have changed post revolution?

Scandals keep stacking up under the current admin. Fast and Furious, weapons provided to Mexican Drug Cartels to see if they'll shoot people, Benghazi, the failure to provide support for Americans under attack on foreign soil or capture or retaliate against those accountable at the very least (But Hey, Osama bin Laden is dead and Al Qaeda is decimated, The End of Terrorism ) Sequestration and the end of the World (According to Obama horror stories, because he can't have the $$$ via another Tax Increase, yet here we are) I.R.S. and the targeting of individuals that disagree with current policy, Obama Care with the I.R.S. Running it  Spying on A.P. and the attempted Subversion of the First Amendment to control "Negative" criticism of the admin... Under any other president in recent history people would be rioting in the streets... Yet all it takes Now is "I didn't know anything until I heard it on the News (that they are spying on to prevent reporting o_O ) He didn't know nothing, nobody Knows nothing about anything you are asking about... and people are "Buying" this Shit... It is simply unbelievable that people no longer have the ability to read between the lines and make an Educated conclusion on their own... Instead they choose to believe what they are "Told" to believe. All I can Say is "Where there is Smoke, There's Fire" and eventually that Fire will consume the House!

A "Small Group" of Rag Tag soldiers (Taliban / Al Qaeda) with Sub Par Weapons and Make Shift Explosives has held off the Might of the Entire U.S. military in A place where food don't grow and there is "Nothing but Sand and Rock" for what, Over Ten years and there isn't "Millions" of them with A support crew feeding them lunch. Perhaps you should ask them?

This made me literally laugh out loud! Ha! Thanks sky high.

Revolution is a difficult topic. Most people seem to think that everyone has the same idea of governance but obviously that will not be the case. I often see people on this site talking about revolution in the broad sense, I would love details!

Smite Us and let thou be Judged from Your Throne Oh Glorious One... It's not Like the I.R.S. is exactly honest by the book these days now is it?

Most of us left the childish attitude of "He did it so I can do it to" behind in >childhood<, SoCal. ;)

Either way, it illustrates >yet again< that you are bitching about a system that you don't pay into...as if you do.

but hey...at least you know full well >who< your peers are.

He did it, so I can do it to??? What... Are you talking about? If you Really think you can get under my skin with your self righteous, I'm so much better than everyone else, egotistical attitude, It's not adding to the discussion "Obama and His I.R.S. Issues" ... Like I care about what you think about what "I" do... You need to "Get A Life" Instead of passing judgement on someone else's. "Peers" that couldn't be farther away from the truth. You definitely aren't shy about how "Cool" you think you are... and that makes One of us in this conversation. If you are an Example of "An Adult" I prefer the innocence of A childish attitude any day... Pay to Play in A System that is obviously broken... That's not Your choice to make for Me sky...

here is something on topic

IRS Hires 108,000 New Armed Agents

(PP)- Friday as Internal Revenue Service officials were grilled by House Republicans over the heavy handed big government agency’s ongoing abuse of power scandal, the IRS human services department quietly hired an additional 108,000 armed agents.
Obama administration officials said the move was not to shore up defenses at the already powerful federal bureaucracy, but an attempt to address the unemployment problem that has plagued the U.S. since President Barack Hussein Obama was elected.
“We considered hiring more teachers, firemen and police officers, but those positions take funds out of government bank accounts and IRS agents increase funds for important progressive programs to help needy Americans,” said a key White House intern.
“In times of economic hardship we need to draw sharp distinctions between new hires that will help government grow, and eliminate harmful positions that simply get in the way of rapid federal expansion.”
Newly hired IRS agents will undergo FBI training in the proper use of firearms, how to quietly enter private homes in the middle of the night, and techniques on subduing, handcuffing and transporting resistant taxpayers to ATM machines in federal government holding cells.
“Most people don’t trust IRS agents, but people need to realize the IRS agents don’t trust most taxpayers either… especially conservatives,” added the highly paid White House intern.
“The bottom line is that IRS agents need to do their jobs and get the cash. In order to do that without risking their lives agents need to be combat trained, and they won’t be issued firearms and ammunition until they can effectively take down an uncooperative taxpayer.”
“We can’t have IRS agents going around killing people by accident and taking them out of the workforce…. its counter productive,” added Obama’s intern.
The Palookaville Post has learned that firearms, ammunition and paddy-wagons for the new IRS agents will be provided by the Department of Homeland Security.
Last month the DHS was re-assigned to protect only governmental agencies and not private citizens after failing to protect any American’s health, well being, or civil rights.
