or Jay,
JAY LENO: White House officials continue to insist that President Obama knew nothing about the IRS scandal until we all heard about it in the news last week. Well, they said because there was an investigation under way, it would have been inappropriate to tell him. And besides, he was too busy not knowing anything about Benghazi to not know anything about. Yeah.
So the President didn't know about Benghazi, didn't know about the IRS scandal, didn't know about the AP scandal. You know what this means? They took “Don't Ask, Don't Tell" out of the Pentagon and moved it into the White House.
:woot:

One of many broken promises (or lies)But what about his flip flop on Monsanto? Seriously....we will label GMO's during campaign.....and now protecting them?
But what about his flip flop on Monsanto? Seriously....we will label GMO's during campaign.....and now protecting them?
So we can agree that Bush did all of those things? That'd be a first, lol.
I find that any time you make a good point to someone who hates obama instead of acknowledging it they instantly go "...but what about _____?"
There's always an answer.
No president is perfect and keep all of their promises. I'd argue that at least Obama TRIED to keep most of his. I think his biggest mistake was over reaching and beliving he could do too much.
Instead of agreeing to common sense reforms that most Americans want (like closing Guantanamo) the Republicans saw an opportunity to deny Democrats a positive narrative while they held office. If they went along with closing Gitmo and all of the other things Obama wanted to do--it would look too much like he were succeeding. That's not a track record they were willing to let him build.
It would be a BIG problem for Republicans if a charismatic dude was able to make all of these HUGE campaign promises and then actually follow through with them. So they played obstructionist wherever possible. As a tactic it was brilliant and it has energized their base--gotta give them credit there. In terms of what's good for the country it was HORRIBLE.
Two reasons:
1. We didn't get shit done. It's honestly hard to blame much on Obama because he's been basically castrated by congress since Kennedy died.
2. If/When the GOP gets control back they are going to be met with the same tactics. They have opened a can of worms they cannot close. This is simply what our political system looks like now. Where denying someone a 2nd term is better than making use of his first one. No matter what side you're on (or if you're in the middle) this should piss you off big time.
I'm honestly no Obama fanboy, though I've been painted as one on these boards before. I think he's fucked up considerably. I think he bit off more than he could chew. I think he was probably too inexperienced with Washington politics to take the position (this COULD HAVE been a good thing as DC needs a culture shock--but it went the other way). At the same time I think we're better off under him than we would've been under McCain or Romney.
I'm NOT a Tea party guy....but had to share this.View attachment 315663
