Hello All, first time grower (for real) so i recieved some seeds from wife last christmas and in spring planted (yada yada) I have them drying in my shed. w/fan has been 3 weeks today they are lil crispy on the outside but no clear SNAP to the stems. it is sativa bruce banner strain Im nervous that i may wreck the whole batch if it gets to cold? or does it just take longer? Adding heat really isnt an option (rookie) i have read many threads all over that says can go 3-4weeks dependant on enviro factors but no one really says any danger zones... I get the mold advice i dont feel thats an issue , I just scard I dont want to miss or whatever can happen potentially happen prior to dry trim and cure stage. Should i wait another week/days (makes 4 weeks) i check every mornin before dry trim cure? I am patient but dont want to be to patient to the point i wreck the batch.

I have my dry times vary....but I tend to have dry times between 15-30 days... it depends on temps and all that but I say the slower the dry time the better...

Can also sacrifice a nug an pinch it... want like 90% crunch with a soft inner core

Nice thanks for the FAST reply haha appreciate it... im Canadian and the temp is allot colder than the (BEST TEMP / Humidity) etc so i have a fan oscillating (not on buds) air flow, but was really just worried with TEMP im in Ontario so its cool - colder now just nervous as im really excited for this grow. 90% crunch i squeezed some small flowers that are crap lol they crispy outer and still feel the soft but the stems (branches) they on arent SNAP and still bend is this ok ? and wont hurt to let it run longer. I will jar up on cure day with HUMIDTY packs as well so not sure if that makes any difference lol
Thanks so much greatly appreciated.

50/50 on humidity packs... I had a horrible experience but just because I did others have not.... as for the snap... I feel like if most are and some aren't... some buds may be too dry and others still too wet... they will balance out in the cure a little...

If at anytime it smells anything other than good weed... pull out of jars and rest on screen(if possible) otherwise layer out buds on table or something overnight and re jar in a.m.

Also im upstate NY... not to far from you my northern neighbor👊

here is a few shots ... i know pics arent a diffinitive im not holding anyone to anything ... the nug , as suggested, Baby nug lol....clean easy fall off but not to crispy and still green looking lol... but if it doesnt hurt them to dry more and they will balance as well in cure i can let them go a bit longer ? better dry than wet? if you have a choice?
Do these look like they are doing ok ? i havent had the luxury of repeat comparison so a lot of trial and errors lol

What's the relative humidity in the drying space?

How are your outer leaves... when I was getting ready to dry trim... I could basically run a scissor edge down the side of a nug and all leaves would come right off... to kind of "speed up" drying you can cut your branches off your main stalk as well

Dont you guys lol at me...i dunno humidity i would assume the same as outside . that why i have the fan going to assist. It my first time i know it is important next grow i will be more fancy i think... I had a friend tell me HARVEST as i shown the hairs in magnify. She said was good to go. The shed isnt damp though it has some insultion.

ya i seen many videos can you just brush them and they fall off ...answer no ....but very close. so as this is actually 3 weeks today, if you feel it would be fine for a bit more (i check every day) till most are like you said brush and fall leaves etc... WOULD, cutting them off main stems make them dry to fast or its ok now because they have been drying for 3 weeks so minimal moisture left. etc.... WOW thank folks . And SHOULD i reduce stem (cut ) to speed up (red marker) wont hurt them ?

I have mine hanging in a barn with an oscillating fan! I have the fan sweep over the buds with just enough air movement to move the hanging branches a little bit. So they get a blast with every oscillation. I think they say not to have the fan blowing directly on the buds is to keep them from drying out too fast. That doesn’t seem to be your problem! Maybe the moving air blowing on the buds will suck a little moisture out of them! A month seems like a long time to have them hanging. That’s just my opinion. I think it’s time to try and get your drying show on the road.

OK, I'll bite. What's the humidity outside? Ideal humidity for drying is 55-60%. Above 70% or so, you start to risk rot and mildew. Below 50%, you risk over-drying.

lol sorry wasnt a bait ya lol.... says it is 67% outside. so prob a bit less in shed with fan ?

Sounds like you're in the ballpark. I dry until the "snap test" comes up positive: bend a branch, and when the insides snap, but the outsides don't, I'm done. It's usually a week to 10 days, if I watered the last time 3-5 days before chop. (If I watered closer to chop, drying can take a lot longer...)

nice ok yes snap test isnt there yet was thinking the WET... i think i harvested after 1-2 days of sun after BIG rains so maybe a little more moisture that with temp...humidity seems ok... makes for a tad slower time.... I in all was more curious on the is there a degridation stage if drying to long but effectively. and with lower tempertures being a issue?

Appreciate the FB all info is good info.

Post a picture or two from a distance so we can see how you have them hanging.
