Hello to all. Going to try my hand at the Auto flower trend. I know, it's been around a while but new to me. To be honest I never even knew these forums existed till a few weeks ago. Not a real tech savvy kind of guy. But willing to learn all I can because buying a lid these days is way outta my budget . Back when I did grow it was put that seed in the ground and let nature do it's thing. My how times have changed. Anyhow, I'ma get everything I have so far set up then got this show on the road. Thanks for having me.

I’d recommend do not transplant autoflowers. It is hard to get right the timing or it’ll stunt. The tap root shoots way down right away as the first root and if it hits the bottom of the container it will trigger flower. You will end up with 1 foot autoflowers in flower and it will be a disappointment in yield. The smoke will be hella good and flavorful but no yield. I did a run before a huge one and half turned stunted it was kinda daunting but I suppose I should’ve done half in the final container to see the difference.

Never did autos again after that

Thanks for the info. I'll probably just start em in there one and only home. I'm gonna use this 7 gallon rain science bag. Kinda want to use just organic soil and shy away from the syn nutes I've been reading about. I spent a good chunk of my budget on the light. Spider Farmer g5000. Hopefully that's a good light. All the reviews I've read so far seem to be pretty solid. I'll try out one plant and see how it goes. Tent is a 3×3×72. Still haven't got it set up yet. Should do that today.

I got a 2x4 I need to set up myself it’s almost a week I’ve been putting it off. I think you should try 2 plants or maybe three. They usually sell seed packs in that amount. One is the same amount of work as three if you think about it as just doing a little extra because it has to get done for the one plant already. That way your three months from seed to cure you will spend will have triple or double the outcome.

I believe you will enjoy yourself no rush bro I can’t wait to see the results you get from starting in a final pot. If your plant or plants get big I’m definitely throwing a couple seeds in some soil and having a separate auto harvest from my photos to offset extreme consumption.

@capt.fixit1971 Welcome to the club. I am also a grower that took a long stretch between grows. Over 40 years due to Job testing. But, I'm back and glad to see another old "throw the seed in the ground and grab the water hose" grower getting back in the swing of things. I'm in the middle of my first grow since starting up again, so I will leave the advice to the more experienced growers, but just wanted to welcome you back. @Farmville gave you good advice on starting more than 1 plant. I started 4 and lost one last week to it becoming a hermaphrodite (female plant with flowers popped out male flowers). Had to cull her. That hurt bad. If it had been my one and only plant I would have been crushed instead of just being severely bummed out.

Good morning and welcome. I am finishing my last round of autos here in the next week or two. If you're looking for good soil to start with, I use Purple Cow Indicanja and it does a good job. Let us know what you're growing!

Welcome!

I had a few more males than expected so I planted two autos. One I killed with sunlight lmao the other is doing pretty well.

Direct planted in a 7 gallon fabric bag with a mix of native soil perlite and horseshit. Added some gaia green too. Seems like it’s doing pretty well.

Lot of experienced people on here, you’re come to a good place.

Welcome to the farm.

It's excited to get back in the swing of things. Everything has changed, including the plants we grow. All of us older peeps are now kicking ourselves for complaining about bag seeds and throwing them all away. Genetics have also changed.

Make sure if you have questions, to ask. Someone will be able to help you.

Good luck with your new growing endeavors.

Thanks for the replies. I can probably push the limit with 2. I'm not a heavy smoker and don't sell any so if I end up with more than a couple of lids that'll do me just fine. I'm also in the process of acquiring a 10 ×20 shed and then I can spread out a bit. Wife don't want me to fill her house up with all the grow equipment so she gave me a lil space until my shed gets here. Plus she don't smoke. Anyhow. I'll take what I can get. I've done some reading on the Purple Cow soil. Seems a bit strange that it don't take any nutrients to go from seed to picking. I'll give it a try. They also have a seed starting soil I seen. Would that be something I would need to begin them in or just straight Purple Cow soil? This will be interesting. I do have well water and I've tested it with the ph pen I have and it runs in about 7.8 to 8.0. We don't drink it Just shower and what not. It has a softener system on it that I have to add some kind of salt. Not to sure that would be good for weed from what I have read. Now for seeds. I have some LSD auto, A-K 47 Auto, Gorilla Zkittles Auto, Northern Lights Auto, Wedding Cake Autos and a few others, I forget. Ohh OG Kush Autos and some kind of skunk Autos. Ohh Zkittles Autos. Had some Blueberry pie Autos from Fastbuds but misplaced them. I'm sure they are around here somewhere. One thing I been looking for is something to control my Light. I like the idea of it doing the on and off thing on a set schedule. But Im lost as to what I need to buy to make it do that. Would also be nice to have one for the fans also. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Another thing is , wife likes to keep the house at 68°. And won't run a heater in the winter unless it below freezing outside. As of right now the small space I will have the RH is about 45 and goes up to 60 sometimes and temps in the 70 to 78 range. Just a info on my space. Anyhow. If some of y'all more experienced inside growers can suggest any adjustments I'm all s. Hopefully I can pull this off or just wait till next year when the spring time comes and fence me off a space out of view and chunk em in the ground and let em go. Between the deer and the grasshoppers it'll be a fight. Thanks y'all.

The only thing that I have to add is a bit of CalMag to the soil during flower but past that it does a good job of taking care of itself. Your container size sounds good for the soil too. If you're planning on using water with that high of a pH, you'll want to bring it down to around 5.8-6.0.

Where are you located? You might have enough time to do your autos outdoors, depending on a number of factors.

That is true. I have an LSD auto outdoors right now in week 3. Plenty of sun left for one more.

Welcome mate.

To set your lights on/off get yourself something like this
It’s just a plug in timer where you set on/off times and it just repeats day after day (obviously not with an English plug if your elsewhere in the world)

Same with this to control fan speed
It’s just like a dimmer switch you get in houses for your wall lights.

Like @Farmville said it’s probably best to stick to one pot with autos on your first go. But I will say that ive always had bigger plants when I’ve transplanted. I think its down to watering as I find it easier to control dry back in a small pot, whereas if you overwater in a big pot you risk your young roots stunting as they stay wet for too long and miss out on oxygen. So just go easy on the water in the first couple of weeks.

Also important to note, autos uptake nutrients rapidly so when I give mine CalMag, I only give at ¼ strength. It's easy to overdo watering and nutrients and autos leave little-to-no time for recovery. Hope this helps

Some cities have made it legal but the AG has law suits on them. An the Governor isn't having any of it either. I'll refer to him as Hot Wheels.
