Hubby has Epilepsy which is being treated with traditional medicine. Some of it gives him terrible side effects, like mood swings, confusion, aggression, etc. Hubby obtained a large amount of Rick Simpson Oil which worked great for the breakthrough seizures and mood until he ran out of it. I hope to able to make more but it has been difficult.

#1 Try: got a few bag seed to sprout, one was really doing well outside but was lost in a hurricane. (I couldnt bring it inside because we were sheltering friends who had kids.)

#2 Try: Got serious and got a tent for privacy, lights and started bag seeds in an Aero Garden. They were getting tall, but it started getting HOT. Had some $ problems and by the time I got an exhaust fan (oscilating fan in the tent didnt do shit, just moved hot air around), the plants were fried. I was devastated, but I had the gear to go for...

#3 Try: Started bag seeds in the Aerogarden and added supplemental LEDs as they started growing past the light hood.

Gorgeous, healthy, then I saw the boy plant balls and my heart sank again.

I started with 4 that were doing well, now I have 1 left and "she" (pretty sure) isn't as developed or sturdy as the males were so I'm putting her back into Veg to get some more growth then flip again. Can you verify so I don't waste my time on another male? http://i63.invalid.com/4rum8n.jpg
I think she got a little unhappy seeing her brothers murdered and I cut the nutes back since she was getting spots, being the only plant left in the soup.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again, no? Planning a trip over the summer to a state where I may be able to get feminized seed.I'm certainly learning more with each try but the failures are getting to me. Thanks in advance for you suggestions!

Don’t cut back your nutes just keep it at the required ppm spots may indicate a deficiency or a pest problem. Also read that males develop faster than females in nature so that their pollen is ready before females are in full flowering. Also pics would help.

@Sharty1 trials and tribulations, just normal growing pains (slight pun intended), also hope that you’re in a medical MJ state.
That said you’ll have to put all the hard lessons learned to work on what not to do next time. Good luck helping your husband, more power to you.

The plant referenced above went into nute lock just as it started to bud. Chopped, toasted and cooked it up. Yum.
So I started again!
Bag Seed yielded a small autoflower strain and I have been using my past failures and these forums to improve my results. Plant is 92 days old as of this post and I figure I'm about 1-2 weeks from harvest.
http://
I clipped 6-8 popcorn buds early as they were looking fried compared to the rest. That opened things up and let the light hit lower branches and develop more colas.
You would think growing "weed" would be easy but she can be a fussy bitch. Indoor cultivation has its own challenges. I've been using an Aerogarden and I'd like to share some tips on making it work for you.

Water Supply: The Aerogarden only holds a gallon or so so getting the add-on gallon resivoir is a good idea to make sure they get a constant drink during high growth. The tubing can get mildewed so get some pipe cleaners. The Aerogarden comes with an app to keep you informed about water levels, fertilizer schedule, etc. but that should never take the place of loving attention.

Lighting: 45 watt LED is full spectrum but when buds start to form you will want to supplement lighting for full coverage. Its a jungle in there! Use your app to control the length of your light cycles. I found a flexible 2 wand red/blue LED light stick on Wish for cheap and it has done the trick. You can clamp it where ever you need for the best angle. I tried sodium lights but they are just SO hot. I have a small closet tent personal garden and its just TOO powerful. LED is where its at for me.

Plant Height: The light hood on my Aerogarden goes to 24" high. If you want to grow a monster plant, this method is not for you. I use floral tape to bend and shape the plant to get the most light, and the plant in the photo is an auto flower which tend to run small anyway.
http://i66.invalid.com/312icdz.jpg
If you have the luxury of selecting your seed, go for a plant that is on the smaller size. You will only have grow space for 1-2 bushy plants so don't crowd your girls.

Air & Circulation: My Aerogarden is in a fabric grow tent with lots of sleeves that can be opened or closed to control fresh air circulation.
I have a small fan running inside 24/7. I have a carbon filter duct fan that I would run during bud production when it was especially stinky. That has slowed down as we get closer to harvest so the exhaust fan hasn't been used lately. its pretty loud so I put it on a timer to run while we are asleep.
The Aerogarden has a pump to circulate water but when your roots get too thick to keep it clean without damaging the plants, an aquarium air stone will help. Found a cheap, relatively quiet one on Wish. I slipped the tubing into one of the unused openings and covered it with a golf ball. No nute lock this time!
As the buds grew, I added a cool mist humidifier. I have a temp gauge that also shows humidity so while I couldn't monitor a specific humidity percent, they got the benefit of the warm moist air.
Nutrients: Go low and slow. You are fertlizing ONE GALLON of water, too much too fast means burn. Add them by the dropperful. Get a PH meter and calibrate it and use it. Get a PH corrector kit and use it. Get an aquarium siphon with a filter so you can flush it if the water gets too hot PH-wise. Disconnecting everything and schlepping it to the sink gets impractical after a while. Buy distilled water whenever you go grocery shopping so you always have some. It really does help reduce the slimy stuff that can grow in warm moist conditions and keeps the PH low.

Esoteric: I talk to my plants. I tell them what I am doing, why I am doing it and compliment them on their positive response. I don't have a big operation that uses CO2 supplements, so I run my mouth and give them what CO2 I got. I have an old ITouch loaded with classical music and I slip it into a pocket inside the tent for some nice vibes. With all the machinery, pumps and fans whizzing around, it's a nice respite for Josh Groban to sing them to sleep.

Education: These forums are great to scour for information on dang near everything having to do with these plants. Use them! Ask questions, take a chance and put yourself out there. Some folks can be judgey and I'm sure I'll get some grief and smirks but I love my little Aerogarden and for a personal medical home grow of 1-3 plants, its just what I need. Happy Growing!

Ooookay, two weeks my arse because even though this indoor hydro bag seed autoflower is now 104-ish days from seed and is exfoliating like a MF, she's now throwing new pistils like crazy!
I did a flush thinking that those existing pistils will start to turn red soon and kablam! Even more now. Not complaining because I'm still so tickled to have gotten this far, it just seems like a long cycle.

Autoflowers break the rules anyway, so maybe its just a quirk of the Unknown Strain. She seems quite healthy and happy for the moment. Should I feed? Its been nearly 2 weeks since the flush, I don't want her to starve if she still has bidness to do.

Opinions?

I've been giving her dropperfuls of molasses for two days and she's digging it so far. Monitoring the PH and humidity and waiting for the swell. You can really see the trichromes looking like tiny mushrooms!

Still no real color change, pistils or trichs. Was hoping it would get a bit more frosty but I dont want it to reach the ppint of no return.

Hi Sharty1...youre going great so far and they not far now away by the looks...

I reckon @JWM2 would know of some great genetics to help alleviate hubbys condition.

CBD oil is said to work great for seizures. High CBD strains will probably work well too. Many breeders offer a strain or two in high CBD ratios so keep an eye out for them. Charlottes web and AC/DC are two popular high CBD strains. Really anything mostly indica should work as well. I’d stay away from anything mostly sativa unless he gets benefit from those. It’s gonna be trial an error to find him the right medicine. Every body is different.

For example I’m a pretty sedentary type person. I sit behind a PC most of the time. A strain I’ve been growing recently called Cali-O is an uplifting and euphoric strain for most. I use it for wake and bake. But the lady I’m a caregiver for is very high energy / hyper. It puts her to sleep so she uses it at bedtime. Weird but that’s how it works. Each body reacts a little differently to any given strain.

Anyhow it’s looking good and you’re making great progress. Keep at it and you’ll be a pro in no time :-)

Great colors btw. Should enter a pic in the Photo of the Month contest :-)

Absolutely and with growing it can happen several times a year. Gotta love it.

Came back from a weekend trip and found seed pods. Some posts say its just the fruit of the bud, some scream "HERMIE" and cover their eyes. Some folks say they trim them off, some folks say just let it do its thing; it can happen near the end of ripening, which is where I'm at.
It may be stress-induced. Plant did not get its supplemental light for 4 days.
Any thoughts or feedback?

I would just leave them. If they develop seeds you have something for your next round. If they don’t you removed those bracts for no reason.

Nope. If your whole crop got seeded it would be one thing, but this is possibly one or two seeds. Nothing to worry about.

Some close up porn as she finishes up. You can see the new seed pod growth popping up at the top. (The funky color is from the LEDs)Just waiting for signs of a color shift.
