Hey all,

I’m having nightmares about pennywise, but it’s not the dancing clown it’s my bloody seeds.

I have 1 seed left from 6 and all the others failed to pop.

They are fresh from the seed bank (could be old stock though?)

I’ve tried soaking for 12 hours. Soaking for 24 hours, soaking with hydrogen peroxide, the paper towel method, straight in the soil after soaking. I’ve tried shaking it in sandpaper and scoring the seed with a scalpel but nothing has worked.

I’ve got a little heated propagation chamber so I have been keeping the temp at about 25 Celsius (82 ish f) and humidity is around 80-90 in the dome.

As I said I’ve got one seed left and I really want to grow this pennywise strain, as I’m a huge Stephen King fan and when I started growing a couple of years ago this was the seed that jumped out at me as it’s the strongest 1:1 THC:CBD indica dominant plant I can find. So I always wanted to grow it as my first photoperiod.

Any ideas for anything I haven’t tried yet would be hugely appreciated

I've had good results burying seeds half an inch down in soil or coco, putting them under a 25W T5, and spritzing with water twice a day. I try to keep temps in the mid-high 70s, fahrenheit. Sometimes they pop in a couple days, sometimes it takes longer, but I rarely get more than one dud in a pack.

All of them failing sounds like an old or dodgy batch... But a good method I've noticed for the stubborn ones is in a glass of warm water 25°c roughly if you can manage it, cover the glass with a piece of card or dvd case or something. Try to keep the glass warm throughout if possible and leave for 48 hours in darkness, then smack it with the butt of a pen or something to make it sink, if it sinks it should pop and grow, if it doesn't sink try another 24 hours and repeat...
Best of luck amigo, crossing my fingers for ya

I don't think that it's your techniques. It looks as if you've covered all the methods to get seeds to sprout.

I would reach out to the seed bank if I were you, and explain your situation. I'm sure that they'd reimburse you for your losses if they're a reputable bank.

Best Of luck.

Does the seed banks offer a germination guarantee?
Some do, some don't but it's worth looking into.
I would contact the bank even if they don't advertise a guarantee, that failure rate is unusual.

You should also claim that you followed their procedure on how to germinate their seeds to the letter.

Cheers guys, I’ve already done that. I bought 3, none popped and they sent me another 3. Can’t complain about their customer service, just a shame about their seeds. I also got some harlequin seeds ( don’t tell capt but I’ve obviously got some sort of clown fetish ) I will see if they fare any better

How long are you letting the various techniques go before you declare failure? Sometimes it takes a minute...

The ones I soaked then put in paper towels were in the towel For about 5 days before I gave up as they had turned black.
Seed 5 which was soaked in hp for 20 mins then in warm water and hp 20:1 for 24 hours then into soil has now been in the soil for 4 days. Misting a couple times a day and nada yet. Still have a glimmer of hope that one may come up. But if not all chips are on no 6
