Reason I asked if you was using cali mg or a source of calcium is the water & the pic

Ro & distilled has no ca or mg & your plants are showing a ca deficiency obviously with the Epsom salts you were adding mg however probably to much

If you’re stuck with Ro/distilled water buy some calcium you definitely need it.

If your can use your tap water obviously use it albeit you still want some ca & normally mg as well

Either way get some calcium

The excess mg sorta locks out other nutes hence your burnt tips
The brown splotches are from lack of calcium

It probably didn’t show up so much earlier as your food probably has ca in it & it’s in flower the use more ca

should be enough calcium magnesium in the Gaia Green, if he's adding enough, or staying on top of it, especially with a 3g pot.

One of your likes reminded me the ph was out at one point that could of effected how the nutes got taken up

If your mixing/filtering in a five gallon bucket a gallon of tap shouldn't hurt anything. 4 gallon of distilled/RO water with a gallon of tap. Sometimes do that myself. Gaia Green is at its best if there's something in the soil to break it down. It's not entirely water soluble. Maybe mix your soil with a gallon of compost next go around in them 3 gallon pots.

Do you mean the second week since changing the light schedule? Actual flowering begins a week or two after changing the light. Until then, the plants stretch, which is very much like vegetation as far as nutrients are concerned.


I see indications of Mg deficiency.


The RH is too low. That can cause necrotic leaf tips.


Gaia Green nutrients are organic. Usually, there's no need to use distilled water or to adjust the pH when using organic nutrients.

There typically no need to adjust the Ph of distilled water. Tap water usually has dissolved minerals that are beneficial for the plant. Problems with tap water are possible, but rare.


I doubt it. I suggest increasing the RH to 55% till the plants recover. It can be lowered gradually as the plant is further into flowering. I also suggest adding Mg. Epsom salt at 1 tablespoon per gallon of water works well for that. Correct the Mg deficiency before "fixing" other problems. Keep using it till a few weeks before harvest. Adding beneficial microbes might be helpful, too.

Compost already has humic acid, so don't really need to add that, the addition of extra humic acid (besides what's in the compost) can add to nutrient burn.

Your soil mix is on point. Similar to Coots idea of soil mix. Recently did the same but with 1/3 compost on initial mix. Promix HP M. Was on Happy Frog but am enjoying the ProMix right now. No I don't use Cal Mag. Don't need it. Soil has plenty. And I use to brew teas but now just mix up powdered microbials once or twice a grow. Once that powder is used up I'm almost certain just applying healthy compost (every grow) will be enough to keep the soil happy.

I was looking into Organics Alive Dry Soluble Powders . As well as Oly Mountain Fish Compost. Looks like some great stuff.

I use the Organics Alive if the plants need something immediately. Because the Gaia Green takes weeks to break down. The Compost looks killer, might have to try that one. Organics Alive has a very nice sampler kit for only $20. But staying on top of the dressings with the Gaia Green is key for a good steady grow. I can't vouch for an entire grow with the Organics Alive. I'm sure you can but I mostly rely on dry amendments and compost. The Organics Alive is great for a quick boost if and when you need it. Maybe someone here who exclusively uses it can chime in and give it a two thumbs up sans the top dressing. You could potentially run into problems if using both as the main inputs. Again I use it only if and when the plant needs a little extra boost. Which is usually around the flip and the mid flower. But staying on top of the dry amendments has me using less and less of the Organics Alive. It's kinda my emergency stash... At least that's how I use it.

That's what I've been noticing . Since I am in limited to 3-5 gallon pots , she definite needs a " boost " instead of a top feed ...

I do not plan on reusing this soil. So if anyone has ideas to give her a quick pick me up. Shes at week 5 bloom

So next run I may change it up and see what does better for me.One will be Gaia greens for one plant .( along with compost , castings, promix)

For the other plant a Coots " remix " using Down to Earth products , Alfalfa Meal , Kelp Meal , Fish Bone meal, Bio char , Gypsum , limestone and mycro mixed with 1/3 promix HP, 1/3 castings, 1/3 compost .

I noticed BuildASoil sells Coot's mix , as well as " take and bake" make your own 70 gallon living soil with coot's recipe . Even there 3.0 soil looks awesome ." Water only" advertised. Their Craft Blend looks great too.

So many options! Came across Bio Bizz as well.

It's the moist soil that attracts the fungus gnats. And unfortunately... Some Earth Worm Castings ship with fungus gnats.
