Ive been curious if adding potassium silicate along with osa has any positive or negative effects also. As long as it doesnt effect the bioavailability of the osa it makes sence to me that it would be a good thing IF your using Osa in a resivoure for a week like I do and since Osa is only good for 3 days in the reservoir and potassium silicate supposedly has to be broken down by microbes to become available so soon as the Osa is becoming unavailable the potassium silicate is becoming bioavailable so that way your plants are always getting silica.
Does monosilicic acid have any antagonist that make it unavailable or make it break down quicker? Fulvic acid and silica have a synergy and fulvic acid aids in the uptake of silica as well as other nutrients. For that reason its always made sence to add fulvic acid to the reservoir first even before monosilicic acid, does that make sence to anyone else?
Got my Osa 28 on the way. I use fulvic and humic acids so I will be trying them together. Unless anyone chimes in with a reason not too.
no its fine - snake oils point was more that OSA28 label says to add first to clean water and that seemed contradictory
I've never noticed this and I've been running it in soil for two years. But I use compost tea at least twice weekly which I think might be what makes me not suffer this effect.I gave up on fasilitor because of it's persistent and toxic acidification of nutrient and soil. Is anyone checking their nute's ph after a day with the Osa?
I saw this the other day and thought it was worth noting

Did you notice the AgSil 25 numbers in that chart? It is a liquid potassium silicate, similar to Protekt (2.5 weight ratio SiO2:K2O) , only more concentrated.
Also be aware that the dry AgSil 16h is 14.8% water, even in the dry form.
Have you had your OSA28 product tested after dilution to working strength? will you share the results?
I will gladly have another analysis of the AgSil 16h after diluted. Give me a target Si concentration and after the holiday I will get it tested. It might be best to shoot for a concentration that the OSA28 product can be diluted to as well and then we could compare the two diluted products for soluble silicon(5 day AAFPCO method), and also total silicon(hydrofluoric acid method).
I will post the link to the white paper that describes the 5 day AAFPCO method again for you.
Sebastian et al.: Journal of AOA C International Vol. 96, No. 2, 2013
So they take 0.2 grams of the fertilizer material, mix it with 100 mL of sodium carbonate solution and 100 mL of ammonium nitrate solution, shake it for an hour then let that sit for 5 days.
After 5 days they take 2 mL of this mixture and dilute it in water with a fnal volume of 200mL
This is what they add the reagents to and analyze for reactive silicon(silicic acid).
