I’ve been at it for a few years now. I started with some unknown seeds found in some lack lustre homegrown, gifted by a friend of a friend. Turned out to be Amnesia Haze that I harvested too early but still with pleasant albeit mild effects.

Last year, I tried some feminized seeds from a proper seed bank but lost everything to an early snow fall, here in Northern Alberta. Flowering did not take place until the first week of September - when more often than not temperatures are dipping below freezing by early October.

This year, I finally wised up and purchased some auto flowers…

…seriously though - this little grammer was a seed I had given up on germinating but I guess she got lost in the mix of weeds in a neglected part of the garden.

This is my Bruce Banner auto plant:

This is my auto Gelato plant:

Both started life in early June. BB stated to flower by the end of the first week in July - the Gelato was a week later. Both are slated for harvest sometime between September 10-17 being weeks 9&10 of flowering for BB and weeks 8&9 of flowering for Gelato.

The BB has been the hassle free grow while the Gelato has been a bit tricky. I think it suffered nutrient burn / lockout early on in flowering and the leaves turned more and more yellow with each attempt to flush.

The BB, while a healthier looking plant, has caused me some concern as of late. In the third picture, the tips of the main cola are a brownish colour. Is this something to worry about / to deal with asap or perfectly normal in late flowering? I have never successfully grown a plant past week five or six of flowering, before having it destroyed by snow / heavy frost. This is new and exciting territory for me but I do not want to lose the fruits of my labour this late in the game.

Any constructive feedback on either of these plants and what should be done prior to harvest / or advice for next year’s grow would be much appreciated! I’ve had lots of fun this season but could use all the help I can get!

Thanks in advance!!

They look alright. You might want to plant June 1. But I know in mass we had a cold stormy early June. They look good. Autos are funny. You could try early training and stuff. I think they grew good and are done before the cold fall sets in...perfect use of autos.

I appreciate it! I had both plants in by June 1st but we did have a lot of cool and wet weather throughout the month / veg phase. My pumpkin vines suffered a great deal for it. I think I could do a little better with the nutrient schedule.

I’d like to dabble in some training techniques next year - I was a little apprehensive with the autos but they will be the only way I go, as long as I’m growing outdoors. We had 17 hours of sunlight over the summer solstice and there is usually no shortage of sun in the months of June and July.

I know that unpredictable weather in Mass., you speak of. I spent the first 25 years of my life in Nova Scotia and have never seen weather change so quickly & without warning.
