Outside In ground growing vs pots

Hey everyone, again first time grower here, sorry tho repeat myself. I made the decision to grow last minute and didnt really do any research, dumb I know. I got what I thought was a lot and enough good quality soil from the grow shop and mix it with my native soil. Now that I have done some research and by looking at the dirt, I worry that I didn't add enough soil to make it right and that I messed up and should have just did pots. Was trying to get more head room so ro not go over ther fence. I'm thinking of bare minimum digging around the plants to whet I start to see roots and adding a lot of good soil all around at least. None of my plants really look like their thriving. Even my tomatoes. I think theirs too much crappy dry dirt mixed in. Maybe I should have just removed the dirt and did all fresh so

Two things..... it your growing in ground try to fill the holes with as much amazing soil as you can afford. Mixing it with native soil is going to dilute it so to speak if your native soil sucks.

Also when it comes to height management... using something like a trellis net and learning how to lst to keep them short.

Which is why I said sorry for repeating myself. Obviously my questions weren't answered otherwise I wouldnt have to ask again. That's what this forum is for right.
I'm concerned about the three leaves too, some spots have only one leaf. The strain is the same as the others yet this one is the only one doing it. It's also the only one not in a raised bed. I've addressed everything that was recommended to me without change. They are steadily growing but the one is acting up and scraggly AF. The PH is still off, I tried watering in some peat moss but it's still high. Thinking about adding some vinegar in the water.

For your existing plants you could add a layer of compost a couple inches deep at the surface.

I thought I did, I want to said I did 3 to 1 good soil to native dirt. The native dirt was very dry though. I've been watering in peat moss, worm castings as well as compost tea every other week. M mainly concerned with the one that's going scraggly with leaves that only have 1 to 3 fingers. I've wondered if I should just dig that one up and put it in a pot, but worried I'd kill it. Thanks

For your existing plants you could add a layer of compost a couple inches deep at the surface.

I've been giving them compost tea every other week. I dont have a compost heap, been buying the tea from the local grow shop. Thanks for the advise
