Facts. It won't suffer just a little in yield, yield will be massively reduced, probably by over 50%. It makes no sense to take leaves off of outdoor plants. They generate the energy needed to produce flowers, and the plant will scavenge nutrition from them as the buds grow, causing the leaves to first yellow, and then die. You defoliate some for indoor plants because of the difference in light strength between the top and the bottom of the plant, because of how close the plant is to the light source. Even then, I think most people way overdo it. Outdoors, the sunlight is plenty strong enough for the plant to use the lower/interior leaves. On these plants below, all I will do is remove the interior branches that aren't vigorous, and I won't rush to do that. The plant will drop the shade leaves when it's done with them.
These plants will likely produce over three lbs of dried bud each, and that's with just throwing the lower tiny buds away.
I'm in Oregon, there is no market for illegal weed. I just grow for pleasure, personal use, family and friends. I couldn't care less about cosmetics. I do a rough trim of the larger buds, small buds just become compost.I actually think it's an excellent technique for cash croppers that use tumble trimmers. Dealers love it when every bud is nearly the same as the next.
Defoliating really does have a place indoors. Outdoors.. not really but I honestly don't think it will do as much harm as you guys might think, but we will see.. hopefully @Sierra.nichole3 keeps us updated.Facts.
Indoor and outdoor are 2 different beasts.
Ok? I wasn't telling you to do it, I was just pointing out that it might not have the impact on yield you think it will.I'm in Oregon, there is no market for illegal weed. Interesting? How come there is no market for the black market? Are buds so plentiful that it's not worth anything?I'm in Oregon, there is no market for illegal weed. You can buy a decent ounce for sixty bucks in the stores. Good bud for 5 bucks a gram. Stores are everywhere. This has killed illegal distribution. Plus anyone can grow four plants themselves. There is no market or money in illegal distribution any more.Interesting? How come there is no market for the black market? Are buds so plentiful that it's not worth anything?
Wow. In the northeast stores charge $120 1/4oz. Most people here are not skilled at or for whatever reason don't grow. Huge black market for a minimum $200 oz on up for excellent buds. Crazy how things differ? You can buy a decent ounce for sixty bucks in the stores. Good bud for 5 bucks a gram. Stores are everywhere. This has killed illegal distribution. This is true. I assume you're in Canada... I know guys with 100+ light grow shows that are barely profitable anymore. Its not at all worth the risk. They're all bailing from the game one after another. It's only gonna be megafarms and the true hobbyists like us left growing soon enough. You can buy a decent ounce for sixty bucks in the stores. This is valid too. the only people I know that defoliate heavy, also grow plants they've selected for stable growth traits. She's gotta be able to take the stress and bounce back without going gender bender on ya.Personally I would keep an eye out for male parts showing up. I would imagine the plant isn't too happy having it's leaves removed and is stressed about it.

Brutal. Most stores push vape pens, concentrates and edibles and have just a few strains of actual flower for rec use. Corporate cannabis at its finest! Middle aged and older people like myself prefer flower over the others mentioned.
However, I've noticed that a good amount of women in upper 60s and 70s love the gummies to help them " sleep " you know?Brutal.
I have yet to even enter a legal cannabis store in BC. Fuck them, I'll grow my own damn weed.. not happy about the way legalization played out to say the least.
I do lol. I used to produce edibles for our local dispensary back in the Golden days pre-post-prohibition.However, I've noticed that a good amount of women in upper 60s and 70s love the gummies to help them " sleep " you know?
Great story.I do lol. I used to produce edibles for our local dispensary back in the Golden days pre-post-prohibition.
I have a funny story about when I was on the fire dept, the chief and I responded to an OD call and the guy was tripping balls on my capsules that he'd bought at the dispo lol. He was totally fine, just high, 65 year old guy ate 40mg for his first trip ever trying cannabis at all.. to try and help him sleep.. the chief and I advised him to make a blanket fort in his bed and have his wife bring him a sandwich, and eat the sandwich in the the fort. Told him he is 100% going to survive this and will feel normal in a few hrs, and sometimes that's all people need to hear.
I gave the dispensary shit the next day in full uniform for not advising their clientele properly. Hahaha... BC.
It was like that here as well when legalization first happened, as well. But as more producers came into the market, prices plummeted. Oregon and Washington both have gluts of excess product. A producer friend of mine struggles to get $1.30 a gram at the wholesale level for premium bud. That will happen back east, eventually.Wow. In the northeast stores charge $120 1/4oz. Yeah this is exactly how I see it. Fast growth is key.Defoliating really does have a place indoors. Outdoors.. not really but I honestly don't think it will do as much harm as you guys might think, but we will see.. hopefully @Sierra.nichole3 keeps us updated.
I think the biggest factor doesn't have anything to do with indoors or out, rather the fact that the plants are in soil and not something like hydro or coco. You need FAST growth to make a defol work well for you.
