I agree on the fungus gnats. This is the main reason I switched to hydro!

Rather than listen to people who say they are too hot listen to people who germinate in them.

Light mixes are for people that want to start fertilising straight away, all mixes are for those who want the soil to feed till next repot or not have to worry about feeding for a couple weeks or longer. An all mix can get you into mid flower without a fertilizer added a light mix won't assuming we're potting up from small to larger each time not in the final pot from start.

You would probably need to find a lot stronger soil than allmix to burn seedlings with, the ec is quite low for soil still.

You cant start fertilizing a light mix right away, that would be coco, light mix already has food for 3 weeks from seed more or less. All mixes are for transplants. Pretty sure you had nitrogen toxicity more than once. The same people that say that is too hot is because they had nitrogen problems with that mix, but some say its fine. I germinated in sot hoils before just not OF and its a lottery but you do you. Also all brands recommend you use a light mix if you start from seed and a complete/all mix for transplant.
Im not saying that they wont germinate or have problems 100% but is more likely to happen.

Fungus gnats are really easy to control if you know how. Bacillus thuringiensis kills the larvae so they cant reproduce, you also have nematodes but they die when they run out of pray unlike bacillus. You can also use diatomaceous earth. Nothing wrong with hydro but swaping just because of fungus gnats I think its a bit too much ahaha, just my two cents though, I love my super soil but hydro is the bomb too.

I am Hydro, DWC, GH nutrients.

I have done soil indoor before an never had a great experience. Especially when my Pop's took 6 of ours outside to get some . Didn't know he was doing it till we had soil knats and a case of spider mites. Then I knew two things, 1- soil is not fer me. 2- never ever trust a 91yr old 2nd Gen grower eat edibles while everyone is at work.

There are many successful indoor soil grower's here, and many hydro. Try one crop soil the next hydro find out what fits you best. Just keep growing.
