I would go with the second one and should I let it dry out for a little bit ?Howdy, sorry you're having a hard time with your plant. Difficult to do this with just a photo and no background data. As far as I can tell, it could have been left unattended, got dry and then got a heavy watering and we are seeing what it looks like.
OR...
It has stayed nice and wet, hasn't dried up and now because it was left too wet for too long, a root pathogen like fusarium has taken hold.
You've been looking after the plant. Which of these is a better fit?

Now the whole thing is roots and still wet from the last time I watered it should I let those roots dry out for the night then check and see if there smelling bad feelings or looking funky and how would I go about the dirt switching process
mmmm might want to think about starting over,. you have us here to help you and hopefully prevent any mistakes that way you’ll get to a harvest,
this plant you have if it does bounce back into growing healthy might not give you good buds and it’ll take time to recover,.
ah yes that too hahaIn the back of my mind I'm mumbling, "Please don't be an auto, please don't be an auto..."
ah yes that too haha
that one leaf looks to have 13 fingers,.
