hi my names logan this is my first time growing my plant started off fine and now it’s dying and idk why of how to stop it

Howdy, sorry you're having a hard time with your plant. Difficult to do this with just a photo and no background data. As far as I can tell, it could have been left unattended, got dry and then got a heavy watering and we are seeing what it looks like.

OR...

It has stayed nice and wet, hasn't dried up and now because it was left too wet for too long, a root pathogen like fusarium has taken hold.

You've been looking after the plant. Which of these is a better fit?

I would go with the second one and should I let it dry out for a little bit ?

Yeah stop watering immediately and you're gonna want to get a look and smell at the roots, take it out of the pot and inspect the root ball, smell it for any funk, feel for any slime and cut any bad roots smelling, feeling or looking funky, put it in some clean fresh dirt. You'll need at least a month of recovery before you can even think about flipping. Moving forward, let that pot get good and light when you pick it up before you put water in.

Now the whole thing is roots and still wet from the last time I watered it should I let those roots dry out for the night then check and see if there smelling bad feelings or looking funky and how would I go about the dirt switching process

Let it dry out some but not really dry. Not too moist and not too dry. Too dry and roots can be too brittle, too traumatic. Too wet and the dirt sticks to the roots too much, can't really get a good look. You want to be able to shake it and have the dirt fall away from the roots, get your fingers in the root ball and wiggle your fingers like your tickling it and dirt falls without taking roots with it.. When you're done and it's in new dirt give it a watering with some kelp seaweed to help sooth the roots from being disturbed and aid in recovery. Don't do any LST or do anything to put stress on the plant while it heals. And dial your lights down just a little for a gentler environment.

mmmm might want to think about starting over,. you have us here to help you and hopefully prevent any mistakes that way you’ll get to a harvest,
this plant you have if it does bounce back into growing healthy might not give you good buds and it’ll take time to recover,.

Almost forgot, I shouldn't assume you know how to safely get the plant out of the pot. It's similar to getting Alpo out of a dog can. So I turn the pot upside down with my hand holding the base of the stalk in one hand to catch it from falling, and I have my other arm around the pot wiggling it so that the dirt pops out of the pot in a cylinder shape. Then I start tapping at it and tickling it to get the dirt to fall away.

Yeah first thought with what you could be up against, just start over. But we assume folks have easy access to another seed, and sometimes they don't. But I'm really glad you mentioned it. A month of recovery you can plant another one and it will catch up and probably run circles on the one your expending time, energy and emotion trying to save.
