Plants appear overwatered?

After really getting a look at the root photos of the worst ones Im thinking 4 of these are dust.

Should I run physan and whats proper procedure. Stem rot it seems. can physan help?

Yikes! I haven't had issues with stem rot from rw or rapid rooters in the UC, but it seems like your water level is a bit high... With that root system I'd set the water level just under the net pot... :thinking

I had this happen in my first days learning, but was different. The roots were mush. These are decent. They pop and tips are good. Some are a little stained from hydroton but still healthy.

This morning they were perked up. Now what.... pull the plug or ride it out.
I raised my water and think that started it or at least reinforced an existing problem . The ladies had a bumpy ride about 2 weeks ago but snapped out. Then blew up til they hit the uc. Then stalled out again. Of the 5, 3 look better today and 2 are still rough.

water dropped 1" below net, 2 ml zone added.

Let it ride at the lower water level now... You should see improvement within a week. Keep daily track of your pH, PPM, and water level to see how they react. :nod

Hogan how often do you add zone? i have no idea so ive been adding it every 2 days

I use a log that monitors morn/night parameters, its been helpful. Tonight they looked happier, but still a lil rough fEr sure. Water is 1.5" below pot and I brought my ph up a little to 6.1. since they were in lumen shock they didnt uptake any nutes and my ph/ec hasnt budged either direction. soon as i pulled the crown off the rooters the ec went down bout .10 overnight. ph move 0.

What ppm or ec should ionic be right now? im @.6 ec,350ppm. That includes my cal mag and zone, using r.o water.

ima be straight with you, ive never done u.c. before and I would hate to steer you wrong. Especially since im struggling with my learning curve. "I" use zone at 1ml per gallon and I know you can safely use 2-4ml per gallon. Once a week. last night I added another 1ml since im having some stem issues but the damage is done... looking at ur thread next...

I haven't used Ionic nutes, but I start with RO, CalMag between 1 to 2 ml/gal and I've used up to 2 ml/gal of Zone. My base nutes are DM Gold and I haven't gone over a total of 350 PPM @ 0.5 conversion to .7 EC in veg under 500W of HPS. That's w/o a sealed room or supplemental CO2. Keeping RH between 50 and 60% with daytime temps around 75 to 80 deg during veg. Also you should add Zone to the mix in the topoff res and adjust the mix based on your pH and PPM stats... No need to add Zone separately... BTW, in my 2 UC rounds I omitted Zone and added Aquashield plus Roots Excelurator just around the flip during a res change... Figured I'd cleanse the root zone during veg and then switch to the compost and root stimulant for bloom... :thinking

I was def experiencing lumen shock, low cal mag, and some stem rot in a few. I believe the rapid rooters need to be high on top of the hydroton and monitored closely. I cant help but get a feeling they just arent right for the u.c. that being said, plants are looking waaay better.

Ima do a nute swap and shut this thread down.

I've finished plants with stem rot and they were fine for the most part. Not in UC but still they were ok. You have to keep that area of the plant dry like someone said previously I believe. Glad to hear things are looking up hogan! Keep at it man and throw up some pics when u can.

Hogan, did you get my post about the Beneficial Bacteria/Fungi Tea? I posted a week ago but still haven't seen the post up??? Huge results for me. May or may not be the solution. I put a link in for another forum (different site) and maybe that is why they nixed my message. Anyways, 48hour brew of Mycogrow and Earthworm Castings and apply to water (or pour over your root crown) and I believe your problem MAY be solved. For SOME dwc systems this is a magic bullet!!!

zuesdog, I appreciate the info but am def nervous to try a tea... maybe in a run or two when my uc experience is higher. haha
