Hey all, new to this thread I'll get right to it.15 years in the soil Everything was super lush in March I fucked up a pest control measurement. Bad juju has me in its grips ever since Most recentlyI can't geta seed to get past first true leaf Been thru 500 bucks worth of seed Major factors are and were : 30 per germ rate from 3 companies , overwater on my part (just a tiny bit , tiny leaves show me mixed signals , droppy , then praying and curling up. Last germination cycle : 30 seeds 10 open in 48h . In root riot... showed nice thick healthy tap Cody Lidon n first tiny leaves Pro mix Microryze: Small pots mondi dome : 1 single agro max T5 ...77-81 degrees 70/80% , 6.5 ph well water : all variables are tight wth is goin on ...Anyone ever go thru this....today : 6 seeds pop: in Jiffy pots : 3 sprays of water under a single T8 30w micro green bulb ...I'm in red zone desperation ...love to all!!! Helppp

It's like the hit the soil and stop
Growing , been thru 4 different variations to make sure it wasn't soil , tested water 3 ways everything is superb

How are you germinating the seeds? Directly into the soil? Have you tried starting them in a wet paper towel and transferring after the taproot has established?

2 ways that have been tried and true
Paper towel : 48-72 for a strong seed imho
I was soaking directly. Never had this problem in 15 year: but damn I gotta talk this out I'm goin insane : )

Looked at leaves under 40x : no bugs : did the soil too...soil is perfect water is perfect light is good , I took out the me factor cause I just pulled the sickest out ...the soil around the bottom of root riot was dry to my touch . The taproot looked like it had tiny little first roots that were starting to something : but then they just stall ...

Trying to follow along what you said triggered this mess... a pest control treatment gone bad? Can you elaborate? What did you use? Are you working with the same soil from the mishap? What exactly did you do?

If your seeds are popping /germing then you know they were viable. If they're quickly dying off, then something is seriously wrong with your soil or your water or your watering technique. Your not giving any fertilizer or fertilized dirt to new seedlings, are you? What do you know about your water? Do you use municipal, well or RO?

I don't use the paper towel method. I don't soak my seeds either. I've done it that way but sometimes I think that when you transfer the newly sprouted seed, the tap root gets damaged. For the last several years I've used Root Riot plugs. My success rate germinating seeds is near 100% since I made this switch. The tap root is left undisturbed and they continue to grow where when attempting to germinate in paper towels, they would stall and die off sometimes. This simple change has proven to be better for me than any other germination method I have tried.

Ninja : we have a mystery , agreed on your points

First Soil : pro mix microryze white bag
2nd attempt organic soil from local shop
3rd and most recent this morning fresh bag of pro mix jiffy pot 3 sprays of water in the dome they go (6 each pop seeds)

Tested my mountain well water ..comes from spring bout 4k feet up . Drink it shower in it I have other varieties of plants in same soil same water thriving : did a strip test ; a chemical bacteria test ... I think I'm good but dept of ag to be 100 percent sure : I fully blame me at beginning for slightly overwatering but not much , I've corrected that for some time ...I started tripping out got a moisture meter: this thing says it's moist but to my hand it's dry ...

I see that now. I missed that part at first read. Its not the root riot plugs. I also sincerely doubt you forgot all your knowledge over night. Something must have changed with your water source or soil mix ... something that has been overlooked so far.

Looks like its not the water either.

What are you using for your soil mix or grow medium? Is something like Happy Frog, Ocean Forest, Roots Organic Original, etc available in your area?

I agree, I’ve had some die after transfer. I try to use tweezers now.

I was thinkin water maybe a farmer dumped something in but I have cactus date tree couple other floral varieties that are thriving : have used pro mix for 10 years unless it's a weird fungal issue ?? At the beginning like I said it was me doing clones all the time and my seed game was rusty but now I'm tightened

Like most of yall ...I had a flawless last 8 years ....just hit a brick wall ...disclaimer I will never let a clone cycle skip ...ever never again I appreciate you all ...I have no one to talk shop with but my wife

I've had excellent results with RQS soil plugs. Not one failed to sprout. I also haven't had any stuck shells.
