My plants had been doing great for 60 days up until the last 2 days. They started showing signs of nitrogen tox/def or over watering. First the newer leafs towards the middle and tops all started to cup/claw. Not as extreme as any picture I have seen though, today I checked and both plants were horribly wilted as iff they needed water despritly. I had just watered yesterday tho. I have not been adding any nute and am using a mix of ffof and happy frog soil with perlite added. My runoff ph is about 6 maybe a lil less.
I have been slowing the top of the soil to dry completely before waterings. But now think maybe cuz my buckets are so deep the middle and bottoms were still holding plenty of water.

I read that nitrogen tox crests dark leafs. Which I don't have. Just some very minimal light green coming in a few leafs. I tested the run off for n. P. And k and found all were adequate except nitrogen was off the charts high. I have not been adding anything except molasses and right before this all started some coconut water. Thad the only thing I can think of that could have don this. Well I also just added some fresh ffof soil on top. Maybe it was super super hot but I doubt it.

I need to figure out how to lower my nitrogen, but I'm afraid the plants are over watered as well. I have not added any nutes that could have done this. ( a few weeks ago I a splash of some over diluted veg nutes, but the plants like it) now all of a sudden after top dressing the soil and using some coco water and molasses they are wilting horribly . Small older leafs at the bottom that don't get much light are turning light green. But other than that just claws on younger areas up top
.., please advise I do not think flushing is going to help I really have not added anything to flush out.

Flush them now. The top dress and the molasses looks likes it's burning them.
Your answering your own questions. So I think you kinda know you added too much top dressing.
When in doubt, flush it out.
But only after you let her feet dry out a bit.

Best of luck.
Peace

Okay thank you, I feel like I over think it all some times. I did not know mollassas. Or plain soil could do this.

I figured adding some fresh soil on the top would be a non intense way of adding a little nutrition without using concentrated chemicals. I just started seedlings in the same soil mix and they are fine

I'd also say flush with just water. They should look hungry and thirsty soon enough

Molasses is very acidic and can lower your soil pH. Always pH it before using.

Peace

How do I know when they look hungry? And because I don't know if I have been watering properly, what would the differences in appearance be between over and under watering? I have read that they both will make your plants look wilted. Also is it possible that because I'm using Deep buckets, that the middle and bottoms are still very wet and the top is dry?

I would follow shroomking instructions if you flush with just water you will free up the lock up nutrients all at once and that is not good. If you let water stand in the whatever catch bowels your using and its let the plant use or it evaporates is your solution its wrong weed in coco or soil don't like evaporated nutriens they go toxic and lead to +++N and many other things you don't have but will you have. You have to have run off but you cant leave the plants in it while it evaporates. The water goes away and the nutrients concentrate themselves in the bottom of your pot.

If you don't know if you are under or over watering, practice lifting the pot so you can judge the weight. Stick your finger carefully into the soil...does it start to become moist?

It will be dry but I'm thinking about 12 inches Down. The evaporation makes a lot of sense . Flushing seems to have made an immediate difference . Thank you

Our local hydro store sells what's called Clean Roots . It's a little stand with holes that you put in tray collecting run off. That way pot doesn't sit in the run off. They have a generic version for about $2.00 each ( size 13 inch for 5 gal pots). Clean roots is almost double that depending of size.

There are many even peroxided will work but your on the right track that is good stuff.
I made a flusher looks like what you put under hot water heater only smaller. I flushed with a bit of sweet and 20% nutrient's I have never measured the amount of water but if you flood it to heavy it will droop fast I flushed with 3 blast once every week on Sunday, with my hose and test run off and ph and ppm or ec.
In time you will get it to the point that the out from the flush will come down to the numbers of what your putting in. That where you want it. That means you have no nutrient build up In coco. If your loaded with N when you flush it becomes available to the plant right then. Its hard on the plant and can cause many problems if your in coco and after flushing add some +++C as a foliar spray add some soap just a drop, 4:1 is ok but 5:1 is much better not cal mag if your going to do this for any length of time get the chemistry and make your own it will not have added N.
I don't know what your strain lines look like but if there is White anything and is above 40% of its back ground you have C problem from the day it grew. The whites drink C. I have found if you let the ph build up to even 6.5 when you flush it will come down and you want to get back into the high 5's let it drift if you use ph adjust every day is to much chemistry. My reservoirs start at 5.6 or 5.7 and drift up to 6.2 6.3 that is when I flush. If you try to hold at a given number like 5.8 we will say you will have N problems and P problems later on. I don't no why

Here we go, learned this from shroomking and seamaiden and cocojoe not everthing works but when your above 50.1% your a winner and they are in the 80% and above and that is my buck's worth cents are worthless now.

I just came up with the idea that. Possibly because I top dressed with ocean forest soil from the bag. That a lot of the organic nutrients rinse out the first time they get wet. Like the first time anything is washed. So maybe by only pouring a little bit of water on top rinsed all the excess nutes right into my rootball. Just a thought.

Now I'm seeing a new type of def. from reading it seems to me like sulphur def but I really don't know.

Light green new growth with theVeins even more light. Stems turning purple but only on the top side. Both plants and a clone are all showing the same.

I'm also worried about these leafs. The only ones that are effected are the younger leaves on the upper branches, specifically the leaves around the potential bud sites that should be young and healthy, they are dark green, contorted, and dense within the plant, I think these would have been the sugar leafs or fans for the buds but since I had the problem last week their growth halted almost entirely. This scares me cuz on the branches coming off of the main cola there's not going to be any fan leaves to bring energy to the buds. Just these curly wilty twisted guys that don't get any light because they arnt stretching away at all.

Today I noticed my youngest growth that was bright green yesterday. Is really turning yellow. I'm in my first week of flowering... Should I got back to 18/6 and try to fix this ? Is it a deficientcy?
