Now the leaves inside the the plant are turning yellow and dying! I can't figure this out!!

Do they need nutrients??? I haven't given them any real fertilizer . I don't want to fertilize and poison them, they have always been really really sensitive to everything I have given them.

You foliage looks really dense, might want to trim back some of those leaves so the others can get light...and they do look hungry. I don't use the precharged soil so can't really offer an opinion if you should feed them or not. Have you checked PH? I am wondering if maybe that is off and thus preventing uptake of nutrients. Maybe do a medium feed?

I think I saw where you asked about organic nutes, I have been seeing people get great results with dragonfly earth medicines products...granted its growers that are already great, but that is what they are using. Will be using their bloom booster next round myself. I have used the Aurora Innovations/Roots line and had great results with it.

Last I checked the ph was just under 6 but I will test the run off again today. Thanks a lot for the nute advice. I have probably asked 10 times throughout this forum with no response. But I will look into those products. I'm kind of broke so I'm trying to figure out something quick to help them get by until I can order something online.... Just curious but what signs do you look for to tell if they're hungry or not?

Different signs for different deficiencies. Nitrogen appears as yellow lower leaves, general lack of growth, etc. they have some great deficiency charts and pictures here at the farm. I wanted to lend you my experience but you have so many issues it is over my head. Hang in there. Great people here. When something sees your posts who can offer good advice, they will chime in. (Meant someone).

That light color overall (you may want to take pics not under the LED lights)...normally it would be the whole plant, but eh...worth looking at.... My eyesight sucks and I can't really read those tests you put up. If you are in soil, your ph should be a bit higher, closer to a 6.5.

Try raising your soil PH before anything. If the nutrients are there, but just not being taken up, then you add more, you wind up in a situation where you burn them and it does nothing to fix the actual problem. I am thinking PH because as BudBogart pointed out, there appear to be several issues going on.

You may want to check out general organics if you are on a budget, the DEM products are really nice, but they are pricey.

Yea it's weird that it's not the whole plant. I'm gunna check ph when I get home that might be it. Thanks for your input . The tests really just say "sufficient" except nitrogen was way high but I'm thinking that was from top dressing. Actually it very well could be ph. I had used coconut water the day before and just read that can make soil acidic

Just an update. To complicate things.. here are my PH levels
Tap water (aged at least 24 hours)- 7.2
Run off - 6.4

And I retrieved a soil sample from a few inches down to try to get an idea of the general ph around the roots and that was about 6.5...

I think the results of the soil test could have been off because I had just watered. But who knows. The only thing I can think of is they need food. But I have no idea what to give them.

Thanks a lot for even just checking and even more for responding to my thread! I'm such a noob here With so many questions and complicated problems, Im super greatful for anybody who can put up with reading all my rambling and then try to actually figure it out. Thanks for the advice and thoughts. I really appreciate it.

But my plants a re still dying! How do I kno when they need nute and what to give them. They have been in ffof/happy frog/ and filler soul mixed up haven't needed food yet. U till now maybe

Looks kinda like russet mite damage or root problems, have you checked the roots or scoped the bottoms of the knurled leaves?

Yea I did check for bugs and I don't see any on the plants, occasionally il see what looks like a fruit fly come buzz around, maybe coming from the dirt idk.. And also this maybe a stupid question but. I am growing in soil, how do I check the roots? They arnt coming out of the bottom of their contain yet. Also this problem is showing on 2 large plants and a cutting. The crazy part is that ; I took the cutting to make a clone while the plants looked healthy and problem free. a week maybe ten days later the leaves and the cutting start to turn yellow and the stem turns purple, I figured it was just deficient only living on water and it would have roots soon. A day or two after the cutting starts its decline both the other plants start to show the same bad signs....

Thanks a ton for your feed back though. Everything is helpful to know.

Did you put the cutting into the same soil? If so, good, then it would follow the theory of there not being enough nutes...or ph preventing it but it sounds like that is right about where it should be.

You should google how long people are able to run those soil blends without needing to add amendments/feed. My soil plants that were a bit (well more than a bit) lighter in color that they should have been, I hated to do it, but I just watered with some salt based ferts at a 6.5ph for a couple of days and they turned around. I don't like using salt based fertilizer in soil, but eh...gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. Slowly but surely they have gotten a healthier looking color.

Don't get discouraged, learning is one of the fun parts of this hobby.

edit: I really do think you should trim up your leaves a bit. That light colored growth that looks to be in the middle bottom area of the plant, just clip those leaves and under developed bud sites off. clipping a bud site can be a hard decision (leave some just so you can see how they turn out) but I just compare how developed the lower bud site looks vs. an upper one I know is getting adequate light, under 50% in size and it gets the axe.

To check the roots in dirt just gently squeeze the pot and either look in between the pot and dirt to see the roots or if it has a good enough root structure you can hold the stalk and slide it out of the pot enough to see the roots.

If your roots are brown or have little crawlies, then those occasional gnats you are seeing could be root aphid fliers.

did you use at least a 40x scope to check back of leaves? i know you said you checked for critters but with out a scope you'll miss a lot until late in an infestation.
last time i found that my girls where hosting unwanted guest i did a rotating cycle of spraying 'em down with ultimate wash, bio neem and sm-90. two times with each three or four days apart. i wanted to make sure i put a stop to the breeding cycle.

Sounds like you probably have fungus gnats... Let your soil dry out completely before watering.

I had the cutting in water. It never made it to soil.. But yea I trimmed them up a lot the other day after you suggested it. It was hard for me to do some of the snipping but I think it should help. In that diagram above the effects of a zinc def match what I have going on. Particularly how it says stem tips fail to elongate leaving growing shoots "bunched up".

Under feeding nitrogen can manefest a zinc def
