Hey guys Ive got a friend who messaged me yesterday about one of her plants being droopy and she sent some pics that looked quite bad(will add them below). Well today she messaged me and telling me she had pulled the plant after there having been bo change for several days. When she pulled it out she said there was a bunch of little.white bugs up inside the stall of the plants and all in the root area and sent a couple pictures of said bugs.

She said there were two plants growing right next to each other in the same spot but a week ago she came out and one of the plants had been laying on the ground so she was confused but staked the plant back up and things seemed to be going ok untill yesterday when she woke up and the plant that didn't fall over is now all wilted.

The bugs kinda look like termites to me but I'm not positive and thought termites weren't a problem so I was hoping someone here could identify the bugs and possibly give advice on how to protect the rest of her plants from them spreading.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Quality of images aren't great. I can't ID from them. I'm sorry. You may be onto something with the termites tho. Does she still have the plant? I'd look it over. See if you see any of the damages this article describes.

The still photo has me thrown off though. That doesn't look like a termite. The moving insect somewhat resembles one.

Sorry about her plant. I did see someone mention beneficial nematodes. May look into that or treat that area before planting another plant.

Yeah I knew the pic quality would be a bit of an issue but these are what she sent me. Thanks for the link it does sound like what she described.

Yeah that sounds like what happened to her plants sadly. Now I just gotta figure out how to kill them without fucking up her plants.

DIY vs. Professional Termite Treatment: The Risks of DIY

Thinking of treating subterranean termites yourself? Our guide covers the DIY options, the major risks, and why a pro is often needed to protect your home.

Borax is super cheap. It is how I get rid of ants in the house each spring. This is an exterminators recommendation of how to get rid of them. Maybe try all that listed. I believe they are subterranean termites too.
