^I would actually followed the same logic in a legitimate competition 100%. Not to be a dick to any growers or the choices available. But this dude is not incorrect and he is not coming off as personal about it to me either.

He seems to be quite logical about it, and looking at it as a competition, since it is indeed self labeled as such.

Yeah they went away after several treatments of Captain Jack’s during the veg phase and came back hard mid flower. Not a good time. Found a product called mammoth that’s a concentrated thyme oil and was able to do a full drench and rinse with water 30 minutes later. Just jarred everything thing up last night. Didn’t see any other new bugs. That’s what I get for bringing potted strawberry plants into the house. Lesson learned.

this discussion is a bit pointless tbh .

Yea, theres some brown tips in picture 1. Still a beautiful picture.

Yea theres leaf cupping in picture 2. dude isnt wrong. Still a beautiful picture.

yea there's pest damage on marty's pic. But it's also a beautiful picture.

i actually did chuckle at dudes post. His observations are not unfounded, nor are they incorrect. And i saw the humor in it. And i don't feel like im slighting any of these growers by feeling that way. I also didnt feel like he was being personal about it at all though either.

I just voted for my favorite picture out of the three options given.

It's a photo contest, ego's abound in all directions

I'm not being personal about it. Being familiar with competitions, it's hard to believe this is the best people can do on one of the largest cannabis forums on the internet. Its shocking. Something seems to have gone very wrong.

ill take aphids over spiders or russets any way.

You can just drop your ac into the 50s at night, shake your plants, and bust out the hand vacuum lol.

im pretty sure this "competition" finallist are bbased on the number of likes the nominations recieve or something. im surprised my janky ass tent 2 run with random improvised soils and a different issue on every plant has nominations at all. I wouldnt have submitted anything i have right now to a real competition.

This is a for fun thing more then anything else, not necessarily a true blue competitive thing. Were all just friends having fun with it.

i totally understand your logic, though, i was actually defending it

In a true flower competition you submit your own entries, you dont nominate your friends random forum pics. That's a huge distinction to make.

No, I totally get it. But the people nominating should give a little more effort in my opinion. But we see this all the time, for example amazon reviews. People with no qualifications are giving reviews about things they really dont know about. You type in "LED plant light" and one of the results is that temu style light that puts out a narrow spectrum of about 10 watts with a 5 star rating. Half of the reviews are bots, the other half are real people that just dont know any better. They have nothing to compare it to. They never saw a high quality horticultural lighting example. Cannabis or ferns, the visual cues are fairly similar across the plant kingdom. If you can notice nitrogen deficiency in cannabis, you can notice it on a friends houseplant and such.

Should the contest be the biggest frostiest bud? Yes and no. Not just that, not just size and skill. Uniqueness, health, form, and other factors should be considered. When you look at it from a gardening point of view, as a real competition, then you can see how bizarre it is to an outsider to see these nominations as the "best of" the month at THCfarmer. One of the largest and most active cannabis websites with a forum. Your inside view, when you are used to that stuff, it probably seems normal.

I actually agree with you on some level. Most levels actually.

But its also called the picture of the month. Not flower or plant of the month. And you are missing the point entirely. It's technically not even a cannabis specific thing.

A picture of a sunrise is every bit as valid a nomination as a picture of a cannabis flower for this "competition".

And personally, regardless of what it means or implies as far as plant health goes, that cupped up cola looks cool as shit in my opinion. There's a saying that goes around sometimes, a super old cliche saying. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I see your point. Sometimes I photographed rusted out cars from the 60s in old junkyards. Sad but interesting photos. I think I am getting it now. So basicly it's not about skill and care, but appealing to the unconcious desires is going to dominate that direction drift. So more this direction for the win as things go more and more astray. That type of competition is garbage, again IMO. Cannabis sticking out of a butt.
Does it have to avoid the flower and skill? Because it already is. Is that a good thing? Just asking.

Is the big take away here, whoever sticks a bud between some boobs in a bikini wins the next contest? Or is this all just FUBAR? Its an embarrassment for "cannabis culture" again IMO. Most experienced gardening people, especially flower growers look at you all as "dumb" that's their view. Stuff like this, just reinforces that stereotype. Honestly, I have no reason to continue browsing the archives for information, or trying to participate here. Perhaps some of you will naturally move out of this sphere, and we meet again somewhere else in a better place after you decide to get serious. Farewell. I'm logging out and never looking back.

cry cry cry, flex false modesty, dig holes, whatever.

We have plenty of ego contests already all over the place.

you can kick and scream and pout all ya want, we aren't going to turn this into an ego contest just so you can flex your own.

you will not be missed as much as you think you will be

Dude is definitely the guy who get's super aggressive and competitive when they break out the badminton rackets or the corn-holing at the family reunion.

I find it very weird that someone that doesn’t grow cannabis makes an account on a cannabis growing forum lol but hey who am I to say what’s weird or not.

One thing for sure is that I am weird. But congrats to all the finalists. Don’t listen to that guy, you all rock.
