First grow, 2-3 weeks into 12/12.

I have done a pretty good job educating myself about cannibIs and its cultivation, but am having a little trouble determining the sex of a few plants I'm growing. I'm fairly certain I have a good working knowledge of what I'm suppose to be looking for, but the growth I'm seeing does not seem to be indicative of either male or female. I fear it may be a halfsie, a ' dirty hermie' if you will. I'm hoping I'm just anxious and its just too early to tell.

This is the only picture I can present now. I'll have more by the end of the day, but let me give a quick rundown of the growth I am seeing.
One plant simply appears to be starting tiny new leaf growth at the nodes, similar to what happens after topping, only really small and not branchy. The other plant in question is producing the same on a node or two, but is also producing green to semi-translucent-white growth at the very top of the main stem. Makes me think female, but I am seeing what i hesitate to describe as 'ballsy growth'. Could be female pear-shaped pistil-pockets, could be a male ball on a stick, I just don't know.

So again, thanks for any advise etc, and I'll slap a few more pics up here before too long.

Well I'm having a little trouble getting any closer shots of the nodes. My plants are kind of in an awkward place to attempt decent photography. My digital camera is somewhat new to me as well, so bare with me while I try to sort this out.

Anyone know how to get a better macro shot?

Looks girlish to me. It has that hairy look. Males tend to grow what looks to me like little sheaves of wheat, little clawed hands (push all your fingers together, as straight out as you can, that's kind of what they look like), before they open into flowers. Serrien, try to get a pic that's not only more close-up but that's more backlit, see if we can see little pistils at the bases of the petioles.

im inclined to agree with Seamaiden although hard to tell on that pic, these may help..

all are male pre flowers. if you can figure out your camera try taking a close up of the nodes from a horizontal angle (like first pic in this post) that should help us more dude.

So after another day, my worst fear has come to fruition.
I think its safe to say my favorite plant turned out male.

Check it out, check it outers!

Here is the other plant in question. Its about the same height as the male above, but seems skinnier and has smaller fan leaves. I'm holding out hope, but not too much.
Here you can see the inconclusive, leafy, growth.

Not the best photo, but really there's nothing much to see. Like i said, it appears to be developing new growth similar to that of a plant that has been topped, but...different. Hmmm. Nothing to do but wait and see.

If they're both from the same seed run, popped at the same time then you can hold out hope--males tend to show themselves first.
