I think ur ph is going up because ur plants are drinking the nutes in the system and your ph in the rez is at 7.5 so everytime the float adds back its 7.5 ph so ur ph will always go up being that its not set at a set number. I usually add water and uc roots to my rez and set at desired ph ( usually higher then whats in my rez and let it run that way. But i know what u mean by having very healthy plants u are doing exactly what u need to in my opinion, Just set the ph and ull be fine .

Tipper it's always good to heard from you dude I know what you mean but In my case my ph is still going down even with ph my in my top off at 7.5 some reason which Squiggly pointed out my temps are going up an down a lot I thinks that's what causing my ph go down faster than my top off can adjust it so it can go up

Ok update I came home early to check up on my girls lol and my ph has dropped some more now its at 5.1 an ppm is at 200pp. I know air temp still all over the place now I decided to put 1/4 strength of nutes back into the epicenter and brought the solutions back up to 480ppm so that took my ph even lowered so I took a 5 gallon bucket put 15 drops of protek silicon solution (by the way I use protek as ph up) and brought my ph back up to 5.1 waited 20 min to stabilize. Now 2 hours later my ph is raising now its at 5.3 ill check back tonight at lights out to see where it at. Could it be the strength of the nutes could it be that there are drinking up heavy and if the solution is not up there they don't like it? I don't know just taking a guess

I was having some funny shit going on just like that this last grow. Never figured it out either.
But it got me thinking. Now I add 200 ppm cal-mag (high ph) and then add a booster (higher ph) and then Ill have to bring my ph into range with ph down. Lets say these plants suck out all the cal and boost now wouldnt your ph go back down since your taking them high ph nutes out of the soup. Not sure if Im right but if thats the case you would want to start your ph around 6.1 and let it drift down as they suck the booster outta the mix
Anybody with any knowledge on this please chime in

Good luck

Hey googlebud your saying when you mix your nutes your ph is high? I am the opposit my tap water is high about 7.5ph when I add my base booster cal-mag this bring my ph down I have to ph up. Ya I think your on to something I'm no water chemist by tht make sense if you or anybody's water source is either high or low once plants are growing and drinking up their nutes it should go back to your original ph of your water source.

Yes it does work that way, however you have it backwards... Both cal-mag and boosters are either nitrate or phosphate based, both of which are used as pH down, or acids, not bases...

they lower your pH and thus when removed raise it.....

Well maybe thats where my problem lye. Could be the DM Gold I was using. My RO water is ph around 7 once I add the booster it jumps up into the 8s
Well CS nutes for me next run either way along with a uv sterilizer in line with my RO unit

Yea cause I don't know weather it's you DM Gold cause I have t used it yet but I have used many other nutes and they all lower my ph when I add base or boosters. Either way I'm happy to hear your going to try CS nutes next run I personally love it I can't wait to hear how it will work for you.

Well update my ph this morning rose to 6.0 it took a whole 24hrs to go from 5.1 to 6.0. When I lowered it i waited 15-20min until it stabilizes at 5.1 and didn't move but my ppm drop from the 1/4 strength I add back yesterday which came back to 480 ppm this morning its down to 320ppm so what I'm going to do is ph it back down to 5.1 ph and not add nutes see if it climbs up again if it does just wait until they drink alittle more and see when the stew is around 250ish see if ph starts to drop.

as long as the ph is going up . and the nutes ppms keep dropping along with the water level . that's what you want ! this is the point were i start pushing the nutes till the ph stabilizes. that's what i do (just my two cents) .

What's good big daddy, you try or what I meant is you stabilize your ph? I try not to I always want to swing upwards so my ladies can benefit form the full range of nutes that are available at different ph ranges.
Question once you push to stabilize does you ph stops fluctuating? If so what what ph do you like to have it at? Thanks

as long as the ph continues to rise i keep feeding . once the ph and the nute ppms starts to stay the same with no fluctuation( stabilized ) i back off the nutes . when the ph starts dropping off . i start feeding again . currently i have 3 super sour og and 3 Chemdog . day 36 ,cs nutes , ph 5.5 ppms 780.

Thanks bigdaddy your plants look great I have a question for anyone that can answer what do you do when your plants drink up about 200 ppm in about 3 days I run a 55 gallon drum with tap water. So what do you guys do add more nutes back to where you started in the beginning of the week or add a little less but bring up the ppms up. Thanks

I take a 5 gallon bucket about 3/4 full of water and add enough a&b to bump my system back up the 200ppm that was eatin. I hardley ever add back booster or other additives, maybe Cal Mag if I see the need, I just stick to a&b and any ph down I need to lower a bit if needed.. I usually do an addback once a week in the middle then by the next drop I'm ready for a nute swap.. that's what I do anyways...

So basically you just add back what the plants drank just the base nutes no bud booster? I have been doing this I'm adding what they drink but in my case I add everything I put in CS A&B bud booster and cal mag not back to the original ppm but about 100ppm less than what I started with its been working but I don't know if its the right thing to do

That will work too, I used to do that as well. I have seen no difference when doing my add backs just hitting with a&b and maybe a touch of Cal Mag, maybe. I used to run my top off hot with all the same mix as in my UC just about 100ppm less. I switched to top off being ro for the ease and the outcome has been stellar.. In the weeks they eat my ppms down too fast ill keep 300ppms in top off to try and slow my drop down..
