The closer to the equator, the earlier you might get a harvest.

I would sometimes be able to harvest in September, when I lived in the Carolinas (which was beyond the statute of limitations ago!)

Several factors in play. Autoflower vs Photoperiod? Location? Climate? Greenhouse or out in the open? Autoflowers will be ready much sooner that Photoperiod. Photoperiod will generally be ready sometime October-ish depending on location. Mother Nature more or less controls outdoor grows.

Ok so my guess that I made was an ok one. Now with that being said when would the flower stage start?

Late August to early September is a basic guess not knowing your latitude. It’s all dependent on light hours.

Autoflowers will go thru their respective vegetation and flowering stages as determined by their genetics... Which can vary considerably. The specific timeframes for the strain(s) you select should be specified by the breeder.

Photoperiods, on the other hand, are controlled by Mother Nature. The amount of hours of sun they receive daily determines what stage they're in. Longer days (>12 hours) keeps the plants in veg. Shorter days (12/12 or less sun) tells the plants that its time to go into flower.

They should start to flower with 14 hours of daylight. But they won’t really get after it until they’re about 12 hours of sunlight. What latitude are you at?

Day Length

www.orchidculture.com

That chart should give you approximation of hours of daylight at 40°N

BTW, if there is a lot of ambient light at night in your backyard, especially from HPS street lights, you might have to shield the plants from that light to get them to flower. Also, don't turn on that back porch light if the plant is close to it, or switch it out with a green cfl.

You’ll notice flowers probably around mid-August.

The more sativa dominant the strain the longer the flower too. For the most part. You’re going to be good I predict.
