Questions about LST

I am new to growing. I have 2 auto plants that are 24 days from seed that I started doing LST on last week. I first tied the main stem down to the back of the pot then like every 2 days after that I have been trying to tie the main stem in a circle around the pot by tying the main stem as it gets a little longer every 2 days around the side of the pot. Is that how you do LST? Do you keep tying the main stem around the outside edge of the pot or am I doing it wrong? Is the goal to try to circle the outside edge of the pot with the main stem or do you only tie the main stem the first time then wait a few days until different stems are taller then tie them down on there?

I have watched videos on youtube and the videos I found look like they have what you do with the first tie down and then what it looks like at the end but I have not really found anything for the middle of the LST the steps between the first tie down and when you finish the LST work on there.

I will now have to train 1 of mine to grow in a spiral because that's the image your post put in my head. Lol
I'm not sure about lst with autos, honestly there isn't really a wrong way if you think about it though. I usually top & go for ring of branches but that's on regs & fems, training with no cutting is not something I've tried yet but I'd say there doesnt have to be a set pattern, train plant the way you want it to grow, most light available to every surface is ultimate goal, how you get there is really up to you

I saw a diagram of that outward radiating spiral technique that a grower was using because of space restrictions, to demonstrate the compactness of the grow and it seemed very effective for exposing bud sites to max light, while keeping plant low and tight. I found a pic of the plant, but I'll be damned if I can find the diagram or site where I first saw it. I'll keep looking because it's a great visual aid.

do you have any pics of your current plant? LSTing is any way you want it is just low stress compared to other methods like topping and super cropping.

no sometimes you have to LST to suit your space and take into account how big these suckers can get when there being driven on full ppm’s .

The first thing you do is once your seedling pops and stops start on mainstem3 or 4 times a day for 5 min push the seedling back and forth, this will make your stem harden faster, once u get branches same thing up and down, leaf tuck to get branches into light, a good auto does not need much training, just get the stem hard and give your branches push ups at same time have a fan on your plants not a hurricane but enough to sway the plant this is lst ing with a fan, so get ur stem hard, give branches a few push ups but do not break them, finally have a breeze on plants at all times while lights are on, that is how you low stress train an autoflower.

I’m exactly opposite, if I train my autos it’s right before flower stretching and just enuff to even out canopy usually just bending the main cola a bit . Large plants get lollipopped in my space - right ? Wrong? I don’t care it works for me.

Thanks. The tent is only like 5.5 feet tall so I am trying to keep the plants from getting very tall in the tent and that is 1 reason I am trying the spiral lst on there.

Not sure about autos, never ran them but you can train regs & fems any way you want mostly as long as in veg & early flower, very little in later flower

Here's another one. The 6-10, 7-10, and 9-10 on the previous picture were just the weeks in it's life I believe

You're the man. Thank you. I'm gonna give it a shot on my next grow to increase yield. I currently top and lst or just aggressively lst. Auto BlueBerry Domina.

Personally I like lst as I don't like unneeded stress on the plants.

When Lsting try to have a plan on how you need your canopy wether using a screen or not.

Not having a plan you could "paint your self into a corner" and quickly things can get out of hand..

Unfortunately autos from my experience should not be topped or lst ed heavily because of its life cycle. If you top or fim you may not have the veg time to get vigerois again or you at least waste some time for veg cycle.

All my own opinion from the little experience I have from growing autos plus mostly lowryders which finish so fast you can't fim or top or lst really.

I don't like the concept of fill sized autos convent for some tru. I only would use fast finishing autos to use the whole foot print of my garden up. So just as space fillers.

I want to control the grow pattern and timing of my plants to use as much of the resources like light and space as economically and efficiently as possible
