How did your very first grow turn out? Was it blind luck dank or complete oregano? What were some major things you did wrong?

Haha well my first grow was supposed to be a guerilla grow I popped 100 seeds was 17 and my mom was on a work trip I had all the little seedlings in the back yard while I was tilling my spot when my mom called pissed long story short she cut em all and made me clean em up lol

First grow on my own is what is pictured in my profile pic. I keep it as my pic to keep me humble and not forget my beginnings. Blackberry Kush. Major things would be not enough AC power, room would get hot. It turned out alright, forgiving strain. Yielded 5 lbs for 4kw lights, 9 plants, not the best but it could've gone a lot worse lol.

My first attempt at growing indoors was a grow light on a goose necked desk lamp and a couple of bag seeds. My father found the seedlings in my closet and snapped them all. Fast forward to early 2000s and I bought a 400w hps system. I remember leaving the store I was so nervous I was being surveyed or something. I grew out some bag seed this time to completion I think I got about a qp. Attic grow in the winter, just some cheap liquid fertilizer no ph, no ppm, some cheap soil. Good times lol

my first grow was White Widow started in a 3 gallon plastic bin in a makeshift tent made from panda film/pvc fittings crammed in the corner of my girlfriends living room under a 150w LED light. everything that could go wrong went wrong. roots got all tangled when we went to costa rica for 5 days, had to cut them with scissors while they dried out. eventually they went into 5 gallon buckets with air stones in a 4x4 tent, and then the two females went into 27 gallon tubs, with bigger air stones, bigger air pumps, bigger exhaust fan, under a bigger 600w Mars LED. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. Heat stress, air hoses popping off, nutrient deficiencies..everything.

50 days butchering through veg and 14 weeks of flower, with all those issues and still pulled 14oz of really nice looking buds. Was it the most potent weed I'd ever smoked? nope. Screw up the curing process too? yup. Smelled like hay. But it worked, and 4 grows later FINALLY dialed into a flower cycle without any major (or even minor, really) issues. great feeling!

First crop by myself back in 82 in NZ , I had some great seeds from different bags had a perfect 20'x 20' oudoor grow on the rear of my property can't tell you the different types in those days no one really cared to tell the truth , anyway I had heard a old guy saying his best buds were grown on desecrated dog shit well I had 30 plants growing all on chicken manure compost and had one shitty thing that put up its hand to try the DS fast forward to the harvest day holly fuck me was in impressed by the shitty DS plant the crop was pulled and I had them hanging in the dark upstairs roof space I used to cure in didn't think to much after a while my wife said I can smell one of your dogs have crapped in the house oh I said no way they have been trained never to do that ... Few days passed and I was vaccum cleaning the house and I started to get a smell of dog shit as well so I checked all the kids shoes my shoes behind the couches and whatever else I could move .... Still nothing 2 weeks went by and my wife was getting shitty to make a pun on words but I couldn't find a shit anywhere . Until I went up into the roof space it smelt rather pungent and as I got closer to the DS plant it was everdent that it was the plant giving off the dog shit smell , anyway I let it cure out in the big shed and let the roof space air , to my wife's delight ok I tryed that said DS plant and it layers me out it had lost all its smell of dog shit and had become the heaviest weed I've smoked ... I advise never to do this if you value your home life ..... Hahahaha .

My first grow is in my thread in my signature along with all up to today.
My 1st harvest was on page 16.

Started with 6 plants.
1 runt died. And 4 were males/herms.
I ended up with 1 female to save the grow
this is a pic of her maybe a week prior.
To harvest.

I was very happy. And lucky too since it was local bagseed. She turned out great.
The people on the site were of great help.

My first was a bag seed started in miracle grow soil with mg fertilizer, the blue stuff lol.
I watered the crap out of it sometimes more than once a day, it wasnt doing to well so I started reading on here and tried to stop watering it. I made a co2 fermenter and drew some fungus gnats in.
Long story short, fungus gnats and bud rot, but thanks to the farm Im so much better now...

Man this is a great thread. Good stories.

My first grow was a random bagseed and a blue moonshine cut under 2 florescent lights some time around '07 or '08. I forget if they were t8's or t12's. No matter what they were terrible lights. I grew them in FFOF and they stretched because of the low light but everything went fairly well aside from low yield except...... I thought the bagseed was female but really I didn't know anything so I got a bunch of seeds as the bagseed was in fact a male! I was so mad at myself hahahahaha:(. I dubbed them BM x BS and set them aside.

Fast forward to '11 I decided to pop some and threw them outside. They turned out awesome!

feels the same each time to me. the physical properties of my first grow were mostly destroyed by group. the mental stuff is the same each day. even if i don't start a grow. 1st thought of the grow to me is the same feeling about.

We were 14 or 15, first year high school, "borrowed" a couple 2' florescent fixtures from the science lab, bag seed in the closet at home.
It looked like some sort of bonsai crossed with an interpretive art piece, got about 10g of some fantastic smoke out of it.

Moms put an end to it shortly after due to the smell reaching down the street : /

First attempt was when i was about 14 took some mexican brick seeds planted about 20 seeds in my neighbors woods by a creek. Damn critters dug them up before they got a foot tall. I tried pissing all around the plants so animals would leave them alone haha. I kept trying for next few years but never had a plant make it to flower animals always got them. Years later after my mom found out i was growing she said she wasnt surprised. She said "did you think i really believed you were throwing your frisbee into that 5 gallon bucket you always carried to the creek? I knew you were watering pot plants dumbass" we both had a good laugh haha.

Most of ya were not probably even born yet...
Early 1969 Redwood City, Bay area Calif...
Couple plants out back in the walnut orchard...
The Bay Area back in the day was paradise, many orchards all over, long long gone now...
Had no idea what to do. would pick off leaves dry in oven and smoke..
13 years old....Finally EDs mom found them and ripped them out...
Back in the day ..
My mom would say to Dad ...Look at him..He's on it!!!!!
No mom no way..
Then she asked ED..Your on it to ED... ED would say...well ya....
SHUT UP ED!!!!
somehow we survived...
Few years later mom found my stash.
Was over at EDS smoking. She pulls in EDs driveway and told me get in the car.
She drove me to the police station. In the parking lot she reveled the stash, a roller, and the old yellow zig zag wheat straw papers in the red pack.
She told me I am turning you in for you own good. I cried and begged. So let me off the hook and told me she was going to keep the weed and if I ever did this again she would turn me in..
Few days later we found the stash replaced it with Italian seasoning and smoked that shit up...
We forgave each other for that and lots of other issues way before she died in my arms.....

I'd rather mess shit up in veg than flower. Basically everything that I could mess up I did. But now flower is going smooth and perfect! I'm happy. These are some great stories.

If you have brain damage every grow can be like your first grow.
My grandmother transplanted one that she found growing in the flower bed from where I was rolling one and tossed a seed. She said she thought I was growing it and didn't want me to hit it with the mower, the weed whacker eventually got it, oops.
