Those are well done, kudos. The rks looks more like i remember, those dark skinny leaves were on the smelliest plants ive ever been around. I tried to get in touch with an old buddubidvmine, behos dad went to western kentucky university in bowling green in the 70s. Unfortunately he passed last year, and he always raved about the sense and especially the skunk. He had a fraternity brother that would trade kentucky skunk for columbian gold around christmas up until the mid 90s that i know. Anyway, skunk was miles better lol.

But just to clarify in no way am I claiming that CA is the home of the RKS. All my studies and research point to the Midwest. Primarily certain parts of the Appalachias super rural communities where illegal moonshiners and other fringe members of society kept the skunk genes pure and it wasn't all cross bred. This I totally believe to be true no doubt. OGs on the other hand primarily originated from FL and CA.

It's definitely underground deep underground safe on the ground so when people say there isn't exist they don't know what they're talking about
From my research it's the afghanis and Hindu Kush is where the road to skunk comes from

Beautiful absolutely beautiful I apologize I'm late to the conversation here I Googled the Kentucky heirloom skunk seeds and this is what popped up so I'm curious what strain is this and who bred this roadkill skunk if you don't mind me asking I would read through the forum here through the thread but I'm getting ready for work right now so I work midnights If anybody can update me that'd be great I appreciate it

Thanks they're looking great at this stage. Went through 4 power outages so I'm just happy they're still healthy and not throwing herms. The roadkill is definitely the strongest smelling plant I've been around and has that old school shoreline/skunk look to it.

Sorry to hear about your friends' dad's passing. Sounds like he was in the skunk hotspot and had some good stories about it.

Thanks they are some lookers! The "roadkill" came to me as a 40 year old "Skunk" clone line, but its said to be "the worst smelling, nasty, rotting, 5 day old dead roadkill skunk" smell. From small clones all the way through veg and flowering, it definitely has that smell.

Wish I had a cool backstory about it, but I don't know it's history or lineage, that part is unknown, at least to me. I don't know who the actual breeder was, just that they kept this clone for all this time, and passed it down. I was able to get it from the person to whom they passed it down. It came from VA.

I will eventually be getting this genome tested to find out it's lineage/relatives. Very possible that they wanted to keep it a secret, or they just don't know themselves.

As much as I would love to have a great story about it and be able to trace it's lineage, I'd rather have real skunk than a story, and this seems to be the long lost skunk bud.

So I acquired a cut from Canada 5 months ago that I just harvested. It made its way from way up north to outside of Toronto where I then smuggled it back to the states. I refer to it as Canadian Skunk. It’s from a trusted source and I’m not saying it’s the skunk that everyone including myself has been looking for but it’s special. It’s loud and rank and SKUNKY. Stray fox has been putting out some great skunk work as well but you need to dig. Hope everyone’s hunting is going well. This is a review of the bud from Remo. I got the plant from Justin himself

I feel like most of the skunk comes from the Santa marta columbian gold. Am running the reeferman and is very skunky. Have 2 plants. One is more pissy, other is more carcass.

Right on! Cool to have a smoke report like that, will have to do some of those. Yours has a very similar look to the one I have and sounds like it's a legit skunk.

Makes me think that mine is also an Afghan Skunk, it definitely has that look to it.

It could just be an old Afghani line that was kept all this time, which would explain why there wasn't any history about the breeder or known lineage. Seems like they both have a similar story of just very old lines that were kept around. Back then they were mostly still landraces or inbred lines. That was pre Soviet invasion so maybe a lot of it was lost after that. Really just a guess at this point but that's what I'm leaning towards. Looking forward to seeing the results of the genotype test.

So his mother was a grower since the 70s. That’s how she was able to support her family. She ended up getting popped, son grew up to be a grower and also got popped. Real cool guy and the seeds are descendants of the afghan she was growing back then. No question the line no longer exists or is no longer accessible. It’s absolutely a legit skunk line. Whether or not it’s the skunk people remember I don’t know, to me it’s the most legitimate skunk I’ve grown in 20+ years. Only downside is it’s extremely low yielding, but you can’t have it all.

Right on brother! Yeah some nice shots all around. Looks like this class of skunks is zeroing in on the target! The abomination is looking pretty crazy right about now and it stinks like all hell

I already know you'll be experiencing some real skunk again soon!

Right on, cool to have a backstory on that. Great to hear you found a skunk that's worthy! It's still out there in random spots from the older generations. Wouldn't doubt the people who have it don't know everybody has been looking for it.

Wondering if the low yield is due to that certain pheno and being a descendant. Skunks generally have the reputation of being big yielders, but I'd believe some phenos don't produce as much. Looks like it stacked pretty decent. I'd much rather have a skunk no matter how it yielded, so you're right about that.

I was expecting mine to be a low yielder due to its lanky structure, but the nugs are really big and super dense. LST definitely helped in that area.

Definitely want to try some of your skunk!

She grows pretty slow for me in veg. I’m all organics so I don’t really push my pants at all. Just let them take up what they want when they want it. I’m sure u see the right conditions she could produce much better. I can definitely send you a sample to try in a few weeks

Nice well she looks really healthy. Improving yields feels like a lifelong task. As long as the smoke is good and that's what matters.

Awesome. I'll have some samples of these skunks I can send you too so we can compare them all.

Right on

No it's all good man

You don't have to have no wild crazy stories I wasn't looking for that I was just looking to know who breed it And whether or not it was from seed or from clone

A lot of people claim to have this and I've heard reports about Todd McCormicks skunk is not skunky and sweet or I've been reading where repeatedly when I seen hemi Chebas rks was not skunky also

I personally don't feel like you need to spend a lot of money on seeds or clones but seeds especially

Thanks man I appreciate the response

No prob! I would like to know the breeder and lineage so theres some provenance, but at the end of the day, you can't smoke a story. We're looking for skunk weed and the stories are just a bonus. I really don't care where it comes from, as long as we find it.

Todd has said that you won't find rks in his seeds and he believes it's long gone. Heime's seeds were really expensive and no rks. I believe it will be found as a clone, but I'm hopeful on some of these skunk seeds I picked up.

Clones can be expensive, but I only paid $60 per plant for the Super Skunk through a friend's dispensary, and it's one of the best strains I've ever grown or smoked. I agree though, you can definitely find some great genetics for really reasonable prices. It just depends on where you look and who you know.

There’s 69 pages of this but if you go through the start, I can’t tell you where the start there’s a video with someone with acres of specimens. Takes you through a tour and describes all the plants he’s trying to find the lineage.

Nice will have to check that out. I've grown a bunch of mystery strains and bag seeds so know the struggle.

People can go hard with provenance, some people really don't care. When it comes to Skunk I'm more of the latter. I'd rather have a mystery strain that is Skunk, than a strain with all the provenance and lineage known that falls short in the skunk dept, which has been the case for a while now. Maybe we need a mystery to shake things up.
