I was fortunate to get on top of it so early I was prepared to throw it all away.

I made another post a bit ago on how to beat them...That's definitely a fat beetle stage one. And there is no such thing as "early" with aphids. Just the fact that you saw that big beetle means you have thousands of larvae munching. Good luck.

I hope so man...they're no fun especially for terps and yields. Though I have heard of stories of actual plant death I don't think that's typical.

Well guys I think merit changed the name of the product but any who it has been ordered Merritt now called Mallot I believe not sure though. I appreciate all your help and will check back with my findings.

Dude send me an address if u are still having a problem. I have enough merit 75 to kill a small city. I'd gladly give u some. 2 treatments done never worry again. I'd also gladly send u some met 52 for u to inoculate future mediums. No problem bro.

these can really be a bitch to get rid of - in our controlled indoor environment the dont go into winter mode - so the just keep on exploding - they can be asexual - so unless they need to lay eggs to overwinter males are not produced - females give birth to essentially pregnant females

I would assume that every mom, clone and plant in your OP is affected and treat accordingly - I did extensive research on RA (mostly from university published papers - not weed forums) when I did some consulting work for a big dispensary op that was fighting them for a year and the consensus was was no single treatment would 100 percent effective

a spectracide drench where the plants are placed in a container to soak all the way to the surface of your medium for 30 minutes while you also use a pyretherin fogger - it is important to get fliers

if in late veg early flower and you dont want to use immid (and you shouldnt) you can use exciteR it is 6% pyrethrins to help with control - this can be added to your normal res mix

also and this is important - get some regular old safer (or any brand) insecticidal soap and drench affected plants at the label rate several times

the reason RA gives you the random deficiency symptoms is they leave a way substance that coats the roots inhibiting the uptake if nutrients

the insect soap helps break down the wax

good luck

@motherlode just gave the best advice regarding root aphids. Dealt with them a couple times over the years. I think merit75 does effectively treat them, but without a systematic approach to getting rid of them as a whole, they can come back. I used a little sensizym i had left over from my advanced nutrients days to break down the waxy residue they left on the roots. Plus it also breaks down the dead carcasses left over from the merit root drench.

Bump for the Great wealth of info on this thread..

Fighting RA you have to go in strong its on like DK..

1st time grow BTW ever

Got RA via dispensary clones. Wrongly assessed as thrips in cloning. Spinosad + Neem Oil + Monterey Soap =gone for 2.5 months.

came back..
went thru 4 stages
I. week 1 through 3 small "fungus gnats" (misdiagnosed) yellowing on several plants indicating iron deficiency.. slow growth on others...hollow stems like lifeless but green and wilt almost? almost a wilt with several twisted leaf and PH fluctuation and nutrient lockout indicators...went thru each one by one...eliminated those causes..75% of plants vigorous..ignorance did not understand what was happening..
II. 5th week larger ones caught in Sticky Pad traps (added Neem Oil and Mosquito Dunks and one other hydro resorvior liquid larvae killer goop gone for 1 week seemed like..
III. 6th week small fungas gnats again did not jump on them or check topsoil..
IV. 2 weeks later and 14 days into flower 1st spotted RA on one host plant. Not swarms but by shit luck left a yellow sticky pad near plant and sticky pad covered in 3 stages of aphid. winged. beetle. worm. had left that there for 2 weeks. as top drip u forget things like picking up dead matter that these lil shitters love to eat..

on spotting RA
dumped Diactamaceous earth on everything except leaves. covered 1 in layer on all plants topsoil. host plant aphids walking all over like nothing.
layered grow stone over diactamaceous earth over each plant to hold over till next day..turned off irrigation..

bayer fruit citrus at .029% Im
per bayer chart instructs safe before 20 days till harvest
for all forms of fruit that would be safe to be consumed by humans..
always death to all bugs for 1 year. 1 application year
soaked roots double strength 2 x 6 hours apart just in case
neem + spinosad ( not supposed to use spinosad 14 days into flower but fuck it my medicine fuck u) fogged veg and flower room top and bottom leaf drench made 2nd batch 80% spinosad 20% dish soap and top soaked layer of growstone and diactameacous earth (been dry for 24 hours to let lil shitters come out n play)

6hours later 2nd round of leaf spinosad/neem plus root drench bayer. (6 hours after lights off 30 minutes again before lights on) no bugs in site. no crawlers. spotted 1 flyer. sprayed the fuck outta room again burned face legs n arms fuck it.

now dry 30 hours (excluding 4 x 5 gal buckets of RO H2O ph 5.95 with 2x bayer citrus strength)

hit with 12 sec all valves full power 25 Gal "flush" w/3 6 9 heads coco formula plus great white (caps bennies on the way for new round of blows) and 2ml/gal sea green ..half plants still unable to flush...so fucking crammed with lifeless root tip suckers and clumpy sea shell powder all gooped up like a cement burial...

still wasn't content. infected host plant was given a russian cocktail double bagged and tagged.

aggresively lollypopped another layer off, fucking with yields as bud flowers are already popping at day 15 flower, taking no chances need to be able to see top soil constantly..

dehumid set to 39...

added fans below canopy..

replaced air intake HEPA filter..

fabuloso + bleached the fuck outta everything...

shopvac everything...

sprayed bottom of roots that were showing on bottom exit holes of 3 gal buckets with spinosad/neem found a bunch of lil ones hiding that way so glad did that last check....

after forever of spraying bottoms...took apart all halos and irrigation hosing..dish soap hot water..same for 4x4 trays and saucers

re top soil drenched with spinosad/neem. covered top layer with sand glass stuff that is way overly priced...THEN finally fed them with full nutes immediately after.

final addition before days end. laid yellow sticky traps over each plants stem base.

perimeter bug sprayed with Ortho home defense around air intake and RO water line as well as entire area inside and out and windows.

smoked a jay called it a day. always win my battles. woof.
