What will wipe them out is imidacroprid. I am lucky to have Benefit WSP which is 60%. The Bayer stuff at the home nursery garden is like .235%. Read up on the half life and it is systematic so don’t go using in flower. I use it to save my mother stock when I get hit with those fuckers. Then retake clones after a few weeks.
Also can and should use botanigard wp. 2 tblsp per gallon. Can use in flower. Natural bacteria.
And there are a couple root aphid threads active even now. Try searching. My thread has a long experience with them and the treatments worked. Eventually.
