Usually comes from organics in the nutrients. What type of nutrients and additives?
There is no one true method for every grower. It depends mostly on your starting water chemistry....type of setup, inputs like nutrients and additives, environment controls, and efficiency of equipment like pumps and air stones.....water temps play a role.....lots of factors that may prevent one method that works for others, workIng for you.
I haven't seen many setups that wouldn't work.....
If your looking for setups that work, the grow diary portion of this forum and many others is slam full of examples!
How long has the hydrogaurd been open and did you buy it from Amazon? They have a bad habit of selling expired hydrogaurd.
Pics of the roots would help to be able to confirm if it is infact root rot.
Aqua Mans method to cure root rot (live systems only)
So figured its about time to make a thread i can reference for those seeking a solution to root rot. First let's go over some facts. Root rot is not temperature dependent there are many different types pythium that survive and thrive at various temps. Second it is not caused by anaerobic...www.thcfarmer.com
Copy pasted for you. It's only been open since I started this grow 1.5 months ago. It was purchased from Amazon too that sounds plausible... I just checked my bottle and it says on the label, good for 2 years from the date on the label, but there's no obvious date printed on the bottle anywhere I can find. There's what looks like a batch number on the bottle but it doesn't look like there's a date in it.
Here's a shot of the roots from a minute ago:

Also, your feed, you should add armor si, silica wont directly affect the roots but it will help strengthen the immunities.. also cut your N down by ~25% and add something with vit. B1 and extra K
I have totally 100% disagree. And not all PH down is phosphorus. The amounts added are very small. Not sure where you got that info. You can use floralicious for b1 and the armor is actually 0-0-4 so that will be a double bonus, also, dont use ph down the extra p could cause toxicity and make rootzone susceptible to infection
Never had root rot. Use 85% phosphoric acid. Phosphorus is a nutrient hkw can it be toxic from ph down but added in much higher amounts for ferts and is ok?He already stated he is using gh ph down and that's fine, to each their ownI agree to disagree wit you too
Where is your water level? If I'm reading it right this bottle was really fresh, August 3rd of 2020 I ordered it from amazon on Nov 3rd opened on or around Nov 19/20.

That's the code on my bottle.
The roots right below the netpot have been getting steadily more brown in the last 3 days. Originally the roots were all cream colored except a few more brown spots where the roots clumped together. it seems like I've lost some of the root strands too but I don't have root pics from before Saturday.
Its expired. Aug 4, 2018 it was made. Aug 4 2020 expiredIf I'm reading it right this bottle was really fresh, August 3rd of 2020 I ordered it from amazon on Nov 3rd opened on or around Nov 19/20.
