rusting color seedlings

Hi all.so my seedlings are getting some rust color almost at the tips.at first it was 1 and now 2 and the leaves are turning.ph is 7.I fed them a 1/4 strength yesterday of flora nova.temps is 75deg.and a fan blowing not directly on them.any thoughts folks?

ph is a little high for soil. and nutes already? too soon imo

No nutrients are needed so early, and the pH should be closer to 6.0.

Ok thanks for the help..I will lower the ph and hold off on the nutes.one thing i do notice is when I adjust my water to 6.5 the next day It's back up to 7 can you explain why this happens?

If it's tap water, there are other compounds in it that buffer the ph back up.

it is well water.so should i lower the ph of the water to like 6.0 and lower if needed?

Good soil has buffers to bring the ph into balance. What kind of soil are you using? You need good soil it will make a big difference. It's home for your girls so make sure they are happy with it.

If your water ph is 7 that should not be an issue. Do you know what's in your well water? Could potentially have something in it the plants don't like. Good water is essential.

Check the ph of your runoff also. You need it in the low 6's ph wise. If it's not then I'd recommend getting another type of soil.

hey scrappy,right now they are in seed starter soil,when i use sunshine#4 i have the same issue.I had the water tested at a hydro shop they said it is perfect water.i just dont know why i cant keep the ph stable.i adjust the water to 6.5,but the next day the soil reads 7

Last spring I had just moved to a new place and was running coco. The same exact thing started happening to my seedlings. It just kept getting worse and worse and I ended up losing them all. I couldn't figure out what happened.

The beginning stages were a spitting image of your plants. Starts on the edges and works its way in.

Did a second run and same thing started happening. I said screw it and got some promix soil. I figured there was something wrong with the water, or maybe the coco. Everything I put in Promix recovered.

Turns out my ph meter was broken.

If your soil is reading 7ph you have a problem.

I recommend getting some promix and transplanting them asap. It's ph neutral and has buffers in it so you won't have to ph your water.

Hi PH, and too much food. Definitely.

I do start feeding when my seedlings are about that size, but just barely. I mean 40ppm barely. However, I'm in hydro and and run RO. Sometimes this is still too much for some strains, and when that happens I switch to PHed tap water. Generally they perk up in a matter of hours.
