Wondering what other farmers think is fair when it comes to swapping cuts with people. Hypothetically, if somebody asked you first about swapping and you went out of your way to provide them with 3 different kickass strains, all vegged up and fully rooted out in small pots while they sent some fresh unrooted cuts. If the fresh cuts did not make it and failed to root and then the person promises to but absolutely refuses to help you some more fresh cuts, doesn't that seem pretty fucked up?

Would it change the way you thought about people who had a pretty decent sized profile in the canna scene and were mostly considered reputable, that they would ask to trade for something and then disappear with the goodies they wanted leaving you hanging? I think that this hypothetical situation would be really disappointing and out of character for most canna growers.

If somebody promised to trade you for a strain, but they keep what you give them and leave you hanging. . . Do they rightfully deserve to keep what you gave them? I think it would be a karmic transgression and they should make the situation right before karma does.

You guys wouldn't believe who it was, and I'm not going to get myself in trouble with logic or the mods for outing people. Suffice it to say it is the head of one of the seed co's that sponsor their own forum right here at the farm.

Based on what I know of karmic repercussions I have witnessed. . . I would tell them that holding onto what is taken wrongly puts everything you have in jeopardy. Just insane that someone would not fulfill such a simple obligation to keep.

Especially when it takes almost no time, and no money or anything else to do. Just unreal, the sense of entitlement or whatever it is.

You and I have the same mine frame of how clones should be spread. I am part of a med community in Oregon.
One member asked me if I would be willing to trade him my Blackberry for his G13. Worked for me. I brought him 6 plants that were a foot tall and wide. He gave me cuttings.
In my day cuttings were clones that are rooted. I got fresh cut stems. I was pissed as hell.
You should get some shit back for sure from that ass hat. I mean you did spend money growing those, the pots cost money and so does everything else involved in raising them. What he did was not. He took fresh cuts and gave them too you without having to spend the extra cash or time raising them to that size.

thats pretty lame indeed - especially if the clones end up in some new breeding project

I guess these days you need to spell out before hand what your trading exactly and make sure both parties understand what a "cut" is

Ya i agree ya gotta get the language rite clones are rooted 6-12'' tall// cuts or rooted cuts are exactly that freshly rooted// and then theres fresh cuts rite off the plant and sent/given/traded gotta make the stipulations so every one knows whats going on

I should note I was just being my laid back self I have a hydro cloner and was just trying to make it simple for another Farmer, accepting fresh cuts because 99% of times they root fast and it's not a problem. The stems had started going soft though and it didn't work out. . . .Myself I would not even think twice about replacing cuts that didn't root for somebody who gave me actual potted plants in exchange. That is a no-brainer.
