SCROG with different age plants

General question. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures right now this is just driving me crazy and I need to get an answer. I have two plants of the same strains which I started two weeks apart from each other. I intended to put them in different tents With different nutrients and lighting as an experiment but I've scrapped that idea.

Now I'm trying to SCROG both of them together. One of them has substantial more growth being that it is two weeks older and probably ready to flip and it's starting to have some free flower on it I would assume just showing its sex. The other one I would want wait another two weeks to get some more veg out of it.
My question is in order to keep the older one growth under control the next two weeks while I wait for the other one to catch up, is it OK to continue topping it and cutting it back until the younger plant reaches the same size? Again I apologize I don't have any pictures right now but I could get some later

You should put separate nets over each plant. You can always use multiple nets if the lower height plant needs a second net as it grows.
The other option is allowing the younger plants to grow up into the net.
Multiple topping works and some growers are topping heavy but a warning on stressful moves like this, some phenos will not respond well.
I had autos 4 weeks apart in a tent. At one point I had flowers starting and a 2 week old seedling LOL.

Damn that's a good idea with the multiple nets ! I really didn't want to top anymore I've already topped it twice and for the reasons that you said. I think the second net is the answer. That gives me a brand new start to get the bigger plants branches laid out while the other one grows into it. Thanks!!

I'm so glad I waited and asked this question. I literally had the scissors in my hand last night on the plant about to cut and I told myself I needed to think about this more!

I do not use a net for a scrog but I have used a net to wire up big fat flowers. I read grow diaries like some people read graphic novels. I am a new grower still and am still gathering data. Most sgroggers use separate nets and the latest seems to be floating nets where they are not tied to the tent polls but have a wood perimeter to keep the shelf net in its form but literally just laid over the plant. Each plant has a floater to grow up into and to be trained along the net.
It seems this idea came about cause 4 plants under the same scrogg tent is a pain to harvest especially if you have a staggard harvest due to age and perhaps a plant that got stalled.

My most success have been with the SCROG so that's why I'm trying to do it again but I don't have a lot of room in this tent hence the reason for trying to keep these under control. My latest facination is using light to stretch and squat the plant for perfect node spacing. Following a guy using weak light to stretch the stem and then turn it up to force a node. Then repeat. He has some super data on this but has only done it 2 runs with the same pheno and it got much better the last run. He got 7 nodes in 3 weeks and then after tieing them down into the standard crown he topped ALL his nodes and repeated the process. Imagine 12 main stem nodes and each one with a 4 point crown and all of these runs were like 14 inches long. Veg for 9 weeks flower for 9 weeks and a lb per plant.

I usually get caught in this predicament too lol I just can’t help myself when I get new seeds in I gotta start another lol. I usually add bases to my smaller plants to bring them closer to making the canopy even. But depending on the difference in size and age it may catch up on its own once your stretch of the one in flower stops. I got lucky this time around. I had one that was 14” tall going into flower and one that was 6” tall at that time. Now they’re almost even and the smaller one still has to stretch and the bigger one is just about done stretching. They’re smaller autos so I’m not setting a net this time around but I still prefer it to be as even as possible.
