Noticed some oddness on the stems of both of my plants today, sort of like a layer of skin sloughing off. Is this normal?
The roots are looking pretty healthy and seem to be getting well established in the water, so I'll be turning off the top drippers today. Maybe the stalks got too damp from the mist? Anything to worry about?
I'm using:
GH Flora Trio
CaliMagic
SilicaBlast
HydroGuard

Normal! They look great, roots and all. There is a fair amount of mold on the plug, but that should dry up when you turn off the drippers... Probably could have turned them off days ago when the first roots hit the water.

They’re labeled as 7 gallon, but they only hold 4 gals to bring the level to about an inch and a half below the net pot.

It'll be a little less once you get your roots in there mine or five gallon buckets right now I'm lucky to get three in it that once they start flowering it seems like they're drinking a gallon and a half a day that little transfer pump you got to work nice I like to talk and text that's why sometime it's not quite right

Do you prune the roots once they get full? Someone mentioned to do so in an earlier thread I was going to look for.

My OCD and four years of grammar classes in college prevent me from using the talk to text feature on my phone. Arguing with Siri over comma placement while driving down the road gets to be too much for me! But unlike some word nerds I know, I never fault a person for grammatical errors in a text. In fact, I’m a bit jealous of them. Ahhh, to be easy and breezy with what I type—that would be sublime!

I was hoping to make a setup with a spare 5 gallon bucket to auto top off the pots when I have to go away for a few days and they’re drinking a gallon a day. If water with nutrients and HydroGuard will be sitting in a bucket for four or five days, should I put air stones in them?

I wish you all the best because I'm a stickler for that shit, but then again when I make mistakes I could care less. That wasn't the case maybe a year or two ago earlier in my life, though.

I just said all that with talk to text!

I just set up the fancy AI feature on my phone. Maybe Siri will now be artificially intelligent enough to actually listen to me when want to take a break from her, and not a fucking brake.

A line from a great song:

"And if you don't expect too much from me, you might not be let down"

I may be pretty new to this tennis match, but I think I've seen enough volleys to say that is one hell of a plant specimen! I’d put that thing in my living room the day after Thanksgiving and start decking it out with lights and garlands.

I would, especially if you have an extra line, stone, and port on your pump! The constant oxygenation will keep the anaerobic activity at bay.

An excellent concept! Now if only the left hemisphere of my jumbled up noodle could convince the right side of that, perhaps I’d be a much more sane person.

Sanity is highly overrated, usually because people who consider themselves to be sane are anything but. It's taken me 54 of my 55 years to let my hair down and go with the flow instead of trying to manage the flow, like how men build dams and levees in futility. Life is so much better a bit messier, yet it feels cleaner!

If I may quote an even greater song:

"Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery
None but ourselves can free our minds"

I apologize for hijacking your thread with new age newer age ramblings! And may I say, your attention to detail and critical thinking with respect to your growing is quite refreshing!

This must absolutely be true. I’ve noticed with increasing envy that those who can say that, and truly mean it, are some of the most contented folks on the planet.
