Second Grow - Going Hydro, Baby!

This must absolutely be true. I’ve noticed with increasing envy that those who can say that, and truly mean it, are some of the most contented folks on the planet. Either choose your reality, or one will be chosen for you.

Well, as much as it pained me to do it, I followed the instructions on GWE for manifolding precisely. I let the plants get six nodes, topped at the third, and cleaned everything else. Last grow I allowed way too much foliage to accumulate and block light and air and produce popcorn and larf that wouldn’t mature, so this by the book topping and defoliating will be helpful. I did not enjoy slicing up my little plants, but they seem to be just fine this morning.

I seriously hope that too. But the folks over at GWE haven’t steered me too wrong yet. Times like these make me wish I bit my nails.

It seems similiar to what I do to the occasional plant, when I want to take a few clones. But I chop the top at around 4th or 5th node. Then the bottom branches stretch up to the light while the top 2 nodes are recovering.
Thats when I take about 4 clones of the lower, older branches. Trim them up, and flower for 2-4 main branches.

My bad, GWE is the Grow Weed Easy site. I thought maybe it was more familiar to folks since I see it referenced here on the farm every once in a while. It was the first thing that popped up when I googled how to grow marijuana. They really lay out how to do stuff in a straightforward manner that dumbass noobs like myself can easily follow. Hope it’s okay to refer to another site like that.

I didn’t think about that and now they’re in the county dumpster. A bit of a waste I guess, but I don’t really have anywhere to grow them anyway.

Nebula Haze has been around the block many times and knows her shit! I refer to that site all the time to polish my knowledge and skills. There's nothing cutting edge or Earth shattering there because it's all simple, time-tested stuff that has always worked. That's what I like about it. No bullshit, no hype, and no bro-science.

I’m really glad I stumbled onto her site first. A few hours reading and I had enough basic understanding and recommendations to start ordering and setting stuff up. And it seems to cover all the more advanced techniques I’m interested in as well. I really never looked anywhere else until I had an issue and wanted some advice particular to my grow. That’s when I found you guys! To be honest, I bet I haven’t visited five other weed sites and have yet to watch a YouTube video. It’s hard to separate the basic principles from all the unnecessary bro science, so I try not to subject myself to it. I’m sure a lot of it grows fabulous weed, but I think at my level it over-complicates things a bit. I don’t seem to get much of it on here either. That’s why I’m sticking around and catching every word. My failings last grow were completely my fault due to stubborn hubris. Lessened learned and moving on!

2.7 oz of really good top bud that looks like dispensary stuff and smokes like a dream

2.7 oz of some weird looking bud that smokes just fine

5.4 oz of decent buds I didn’t trim very well because they were a little seedy and I thought that was the end of the world and that I could only use them for edibles. I know better now and will definitely get into them to smoke if I need to, although the 2.7 ounces of primo bud will last me well over a year.

6.8 oz of trim that has a fair amount of loose larf and popcorn.

So a grand total of 17.6 oz of everything that had trichs on it.

Given all that, I’m not quite sure what to include when someone asks what my yield was.

It was two plants in coco with GH FloraTrio nutes.

I think the way I was handling the coco it was as close to dwc as you can get without actually being hydro. I was giving each plant almost two gallons a day through the end of veg and most of flower just to get 20% runoff. They were some thirsty chicks.
