Hey everyone - I've got this little seedling that seems to be a little droopy and I can't figure out why. I germinated in rockwool just over two weeks ago and just moved it into a 5 gal bucket DWC set up. It started to get a little droopy in the rockwool before I put it in the DWC, I thought it was because I did accidentally let the rockwool get a little dry one day but expected it to get better once I put it in the DWC set up. It has in fact continued to get a little worse. The water level is just to the bottom of the rockwool cube so it is certainly getting water, you can see the taproot sticking out of the bottom of the cube. Before I moved the plant I adjusted the PH of the water and added hydroguard, I did not put any nutes in the water. It's under a 150W HPS lamp that is probably 2.5-3 feet above the plant. Any thoughts from anyone? Appreciate the help!

Hey. Love seeing DWC grows. One of my fav methods.

What stands out to me is that little plant is way too small to be transplanted to the DWC yet.

This transfer is always tough, no matter what I do they always struggle for a while.

The main problems are these,

The Rockwool if getting any splashing water from the bucket will easily get oversaturated. Rockrool needs to be allowed to get dry between being given water. If it is getting any water from the bucket, it's probably too wet. When you do the transfer you want enough splash to get the clay pebbles wet (encouraging roots to reach towards them), but should not be reaching the actual Rockwool it's self. You would need to add water to it daily from the top as you did before, letting it dry out in-between.

Also, the plant is too small to handle what may be the low humidity in there. You want them in at least 70%+ humidity if they are not getting perfect watering.

150w hps at 3 feet is not VERY bright. but it's probably brighter then a struggling stressed plant wants to handle. Switch to fluorescent for about a week or until you see a growth spurt if you can. an 18-6 cycle vs 24-0 may help too.

TLDR, make it darker, more humid, let the Rockwool dry, and water it from the top daily. Don't spray it or feed it.

What are they planted in. It could be to wet but likely you will need to top feed once a day until the roots hit the water.

If it's bare root in there he should top feed as often as he can like even every hour.

I think it's in a rooter or Rockwool so that makes it much different

It is planted in rockwool surrounded by hydroton in a net cup. The water level is such that the rockwool is getting wet though.

yeah I think it's a Rockwool cube/plug, buried in 100% hydroton clay. So the rockwool should be able to hold the water the plant needs for 24 hours between watering, by the time it needs more it will have roots in the splash zone.

If there was no rockwool cube it would need a drip system or some serious micro-managing lol.

Sounds like it was starving for oxygen then.

Is the water level up to the rockwool? If so that's to high. It should be about an inch below the net pot and pour a cup of water a day from the top manually until the roots hit the water.
